2 positive tests vs 1 negative digital

I need some help, yesterday morning I pulled 2 positive tests, but doing a digital one this morning, it’s telling me I’m not pregnant. At this point I don’t want to test again because it’s messing with my head, but does anyone know why this has happened and if there’s a chance I might still be pregnant, but just really early. These faint lines both came up straight away btw. Thank you

Hi I'm having the same issue got loads of positives on the 31st from different brands even clear blue digital but done one yesterday and today both say negative but when you open the clear blue pregnancy tests up there's 2 lines

remaininghopeful23 · 05/01/2025 11:22

Seems really common for the digital tests to take longer to show a positive result, ive read countless threads on here of the same thing happening others. Myself included. My strip tests were positive but digital neg. Left it 5 days to do a digital again (mainly because theyre so expensive😂) and by then it was positive. So I would say you are pregnant. Congratulations!

It's so confusing at times

Digital takes longer. I tested positive on line tests and it took another 2 days for it to show on digital. And I’m currently 22 weeks pregnant

tiffxxx · 05/01/2025 11:26

Does anyone know why a digital could have thrown up a positive one day but days later 2 negatives but when taken apart there's 2 lines

Hi lovely, so there's always 2 or more lines on the digital tests. They're not read the same way as normal strip tests. The machine interprets them that's why you're not meant to open them. Did you always use your first wee of the day on your tests? They're most accurate if first wee around same time each day. What about your strip tests, are they still positive? If you've had clear positives that quickly turn negative there is unfortunately something called a chemical pregnancy. I hope that's not the case for you but just worth looking into. Hope everything works out ok for you x

tiffxxx · 05/01/2025 11:41

I done a clear blue last night and first thing this morning which both came back negative but on my strip test there's a faint line which I'm really confused at but I suppose it's just a waiting game now to see if af comes or not and I was thinking chemical pregnancy but time will tell

Is the strip test clearblue? Did the line come up within 5 mins? Clearblue can dry with
evaporation lines that aren't actually positive. If you're only using clearblue I'd get some pink dye tests instead they're less likely to be wrong

tiffxxx · 05/01/2025 11:47

It's clear blue digital

tiffxxx · 05/01/2025 11:48

No the strip was from MomMed

tiffxxx · 05/01/2025 11:50

And where would I get pink dye tests from in the uk?

False negatives are much more common than false positives.

The test is looking for a hormone associated with pregnancy.

As long as the result is within the time window, a positive test is saying "I picked up enough pregnancy hormones to change the colour of the strip"

A negative test is simply saying "I didn't pick up enough pregnancy hormones to change the colour of the strip". It is NOT saying you are definitely not pregnant (despite what the words on the digital test may say!)

One test might not be able to pick up enough hormones to show a positive, because the test is less sensitive, or the levels of hormone in your pee are lower at that exact moment (they are usually highest in your first pee of the day).

Keep testing. Good luck, wishing you the result you want.

I had the exact issue, I ended up taking about 7 tests (all positive) and 3 negative digital for it to actually show a positive digital 😂 the digital aren't as sensitive so they take longer to show on those. I'm now 7 weeks ;)

Hi all. I’m 18 years old I’m currently away from home at uni and I’ve been being sick the past 3 weeks. So yesterday I took a test in the morning at it was positive and took another one later that night and it was also positive. I took another test this morning and it was invalid (the blue line that indicates the test works wasn’t there) I then took a digital and it was not pregnant. I am confused and scared.
(tests I used were all clear blue)

The test line in those photos is broken and very thin so may be an evaporation line, unfortunately very common with those tests I've had this before and not been pregnant. Did the lines come up in the time suggested? Usually 5/10 minutes? Anything that comes up after then is invalid. I'd advise getting some tests that have a red dye line as they are usually better. Have you missed your period?

Hi thanks for getting back to me😊 yes I’m 14 days late I’ve been so busy recently and I didn’t even realise I was due on until I checked flo yesterday. I’ve also been being sick quite alot which is unusual so yesterday had already booked doctors for Monday to have bloods done before I even did the test x

BertieBotts · 14/01/2025 11:32

The digital ones are less sensitive. You only get a positive on them once you're getting really strong positive on the manual ones.

Congratulations!

Sorry, I didn't see this reply before. Do you have a local sexual health clinic? They will do a test for you and be able to advise. Is there also someone you can talk to IRL - a friend, a family member?

I’m going to look into that. Luckily my boyfriend is up here aswell, we’ve been together for 2 years so he’s the best support I’ve got. He’s been really helpful x

Ah by 14 days late it should definitely show up on a digital then. And be a thicker line on the clear blue. It might be that your period is delayed due to illness/stress but yeah worth getting it checked out!
