Amniotic fluid Reduced and feeling ‘wet’ sometimes

Hi

I am 33 weeks today. I had a growth scan yesterday and all measurements were progressing well. I asked for a copy of the report and looked at this last night. The amniotic fluid looks to have reduced, but is still within the range just above 5%.

i often feel quite ‘wet’ down there, but think it’s just discharge. Yet this has got me slightly worried. Sonographer didn’t seem concerned at all when she scanned me and didn’t say anything. But I’m not sure how to tell if I am slowly leaking amniotic fluid or if it’s just increased discharge.

I don't know anything about amniotic fluid measurements. But if you're worried, call the triage line. They can do a swab and test for whether it's your waters.

Mine went at 34 weeks and it really wasn't very much at all. I only mentioned it because I happened to have a midwife appointment that day, and she sent me in.

I had this worry but my measurements were different to how yours do them. I went for my last growth scan at 39 weeks and there was more fluid than what there had been at the last two measurements and they weren't concerned at any scan. I would try not to worry too much as they are normally really good at pickin things up. The way I see it is if you can see the fluid around baby and baby is moving just as much then there should be no issue. I have the wet feeling too and think it is discharge or even sometimes urine from when baby is really pressing down even though I've never felt it really trickle.

Thank you both. I’m not concerned, it’s normally when I get up or out the bath, but the decrease has put it in my mind. I will keep an eye on it and if I’m concerned will call. Hopefully the measurements are no cause for concern.
