when did you bring your new pushchair home?

good afternoon everyone, i was just wondering when did you or will you bring your new pushchair home?, i am getting really excited about the baby coming, but am only 30 weeks, i really want to collect my quinny buzz 4 wheeler, but there is a niggling doubt in my mind, because its supposed to be bad luck, and believe me there has been lots of that around me in terms of friends/family losing their babies.
id like to get it all set up, before baby comes, incase there is anything wrong.

your thoughts would be gratefully recieved.

My mum had ours at her house for few months, we got it home and played with it 3 weeks before baby came.

I had my pram in my house from about 3 months of pregnancy. Hasn't brought any back luck so far§

With my first we bought it and brought it home very early on.
I was very excited

With my second we just used the same pushchair so it only came down from the loft after he was born.

For the third we got it 2 months before he arrived.

I dont believe in that bad luck nonsense though.

i wouldnt normally be so worried, but have experienced 5 miscarriages with people who are close to me, so i feel very lucky that this one is doing well, especially as sil was due a week after me, but sadly mc'd. last time we had it at my mil house but we havent got that luxury as she now lives in a 1 bed bungalow!!!. i was thinking maybe leave it a few weeks and then collect it, i finish work next friday so just want to get everything sorted, thanks for the quick responses.

We collected it from shop 2 days after the baby was born, well DH did.

We were told it is unlucky to keep it in your house beforehand. I have known friends to keep it at their parents or friends....

Try it for goodness sake before you have the baby, so you know what it is like to use - I have had loads of pushchairs that looked great but were awful to use.

Try in the shop, take a friend's child, or a sack of flour, anything, just try pushing it and folding it while carrying said child/sack of flour, to get an idea what you are letting yourself in for!

Then you can complacently refuse to have it in the house until after baby arrives.

This whole "unlucky" thing really winds me up - like we don't have enough to worry about in pregnancy? Sorry, I know everyone's different about superstitions, but I guess I prefer to take a more positive approach. IMHO, it's most practical to get everything in, set up and tested before the baby comes, because you're not really going to want to have to do this stuff after.

We got ours at 32 weeks and I put it up straight away and it had pride of place in our dining room. I was so excited about having a baby I use to pop in to see it every time I went downstairs. I even used to push it round the garden

I've had several m/c's and 'not putting the pram up' didn't even cross my mind. If things are going to go wrong they will go wrong regardless of whether you have a pram in the house!!

Mine was at my mum's until I was about 31 weeks but only because we were moving and we didnt have room at the old flat for it.

SpottyShoes is right, if things are going to go wrong they will regardless of having the pram.

I don't 'do' superstition. I bought the prams midway through the pregnancy and they were in the house from that time.

I'm 36 weeks and have had mine here for about 3 weeks now, I wanted to make sure everything was there and working before baby arrives.

Mine will be ready for collection about a month before the baby is due, and I can't wait to have it!
Along with everything, I think it's best to give yourself plenty of time to get stuff readey and try it out before the baby comes.

thanks everyone, like i said i wouldnt normally be so worried, and would think with rational that if it was going to go wrong it will, however its just so many close people have had heartache, i dont want to tempt fate, i think i will leave it till i finish work and then collect it, so i can be sure the pushchair is all ok, and set up. gosh dont want to get to come to use it, and it doesnt work properly.
