Empty sac on scan - any hope?

Hi there

By my calculations I am 6 w 2 days, had a transvaginal early scan yesterday and all the doctor could see was an empty sack, measuring 13 x 8 x 11. They thought they could see something at one point but said it was maybe too small and to come back in a week. I took a trigger injection so know when ovulation was. Is there any chance of a hopeful ending or shall I prepare for the worst? This week is going to be agony I didn’t sleep at all last night.

I know it's so hard but try not to worry just yet as this could be absolutely fine.

At this stage it’s too early for them to say. At 6 weeks they should be able to see a gestational sack and a yolk sac, and possibly a fetal pole sometimes with heartbeat, although the heartbeat can come a little later. You know when ovulation was, but there are other variables too like how long it takes to fertilize then implant that could vary it by a couple of days. It’s a horrible situation but there’s not much that can be done except waiting until the next scan and seeing if there’s any development.

When I was pregnant with my DD I had an early scan and was told I was 5 weeks pregnant. There was an empty sac and that was it. I asked how when my LMP was such a date, putting me at 7 weeks. They said I must of ovulated later in my cycle

Hi, I wonder how did your pregnancy go in the end? I have same situation 6w+6 days scan sac is visible but no sign of embriyo and hope your outcome was good.
