Can anyone recommend somewhere to go for an early scan privately? I lost my last one at 6 weeks, and having nearly reached 7 weeks this time I would like to get it checked out and possibly save myself some heartache!
but have no idea where to go, how to do it, what it would cost, etc etc!! Hope someone can help. Thanks!

Fetal medicine centre in harley st. They are lovely, lots of people on here use them.
Google them and you'll find their contact details.

I used the Portland and they were always lovely. If it helps, I lost my first at 6 weeks and then had two trouble free pregnancies. Good luck

Sorry about your previous loss - it makes everything much more stressful next time doesn't it. Presumably you've already checked with your GP or local EPU as to whether you can get a scan on the NHS? It's just that after my miscarriage my GP referred me to the EPU at my local hospital and I was scanned at 7 and 9 weeks as well as my nuchal scan at 12 weeks, all on the NHS. I'm also in London. The whole thing was really reassuring as I think I'd have been a complete basket case if they'd made me wait till 12 weeks. But I know it does depend on where you live.

SniffyHock · 03/05/2008 09:27

I meant to say that too - with my second child we wern't in London but my local EPU were brilliant. They scanned me at 7 weeks and were happy to do it again if I wanted.

babblington · 03/05/2008 09:39

Thank you all - brilliant responses. I didn't know the NHS would do early scans - perhaps i should ask my GP as well! But will get onto the Fetal Medicine centre. Thank you all very much!

Hi babblington, the fetal medicine centre usually book you in two weeks later, so if you're in a hurry I would recommend the Womens Ultrasound Centre in Harley Street. The person who scanned me last week was the nicest man on the planet, the experience was wonderful and it cost £120, 20 more than the fetal medicine centre.

PortAndLemon · 05/05/2008 07:52

Also used Fetal Medicine Centre. Not sure about msdynamo's experience of waiting for two weeks - when I called on a Friday they were going to book me for the Monday but when I sunded stressed they jiggled things to get me in the same day.

Hello b: congratulations!! I had my first scan at 6w+3 at 137 Harley Street. 0207 725 0521.

Really nice clinic, looks like hedge fund office. Really lovely young doctor that checked intensively and took time to answer questions. It cost £ 160,- and was def worth it. I got first pictures and extensive check.
