I’m currently 33 weeks. 3rd pregnancy and I’m going of at 36 weeks (using a couple of weeks annual leave and then starting official maternity leave).
I work in a really small team and I always feel stupidly guilty for taking time off. I never took him off before I got pregnant.
this time around has been a bit of a struggling with lots of bleeding issues and awful morning sickness.
I had 2 weeks of due to heavy bleeding early on (around 7 weeks). I miscarried one baby (didn’t know it was twins at the time and we had that 14 day wait to rescan etc).
3 days at 12 weeks for bleeding
1 day for hip pain at 27 weeks
there’s probably been another day somewhere but I can’t remember.
anyway, I’ve come down with this horrific flu that’s going around. I’ve been ill since the 23rd but luckily had annual leave. Would it be awful to ring in sick for tomorrow/ Friday? I just feel torn up about it and so guilty 🤦🏻‍♀️
pregnancy sickness doesn’t count towards my sickness but this isn’t pregnancy related so would (but I have no other episodes of non pregnancy related sickness)
I didn’t take Anytime off with my first 2 but u feel like im falling apart this time!

I'd definitely say yours and your baby's health is priority. At the end of the day work is just work. I say this as someone who would feel similar and really care about my job. But personal life comes first 😊

As pp said, do it for your baby.

100%, take the time off for sick leave. I am terrible for working when I'm ill, but your immune system will be shot by now and it will take you longer to recover if you work through it. That's what sick leave is there for. 😊

(Technically, you should get your annual leave back if you're sick - you can't be on annual leave and sick leave at the same time - but tbh you usually need a sick note from doctor and this is a massive pain in the arse so I'd leave it.)

Get well soon!

Do whatever is best for you and the baby. Work is important but in the end of the day just work.
