6 weeks pregnant sickness

Hi. I'm 6 weeks pregnant today and and been feeling very sick for the last week. I haven't been vomiting, but I'm having headaches, feeling very nauseous and struggling with my appetite all day and during the night and as a result getting little sleep. I feel pretty useless as I'm doing nothing around the house and feeling to ill to cook. I know everyone is different, but is it normal to feel this ill at 6 weeks and how long did it last for other people?

I felt sick at that stage - like bad motion sickness, lots of nausea and vomiting regularly but not everyday. It lasted until around 16 weeks for me

First pregnancy I didn't get the sickness/ nausea till 7 weeks and it lasted till 14 weeks but this time round it started earlier at 5 weeks and continued on till about 18-20 weeks (sorry].
I'm 27 weeks now and still have the occasional bout of sickness.
Every pregnancy is different.

Very normal to be feeling the way you are by this stage! Some say it levels off 12-13 weeks but as above, I was sick the whole way through (I did have HG though!)
Hope you feel better soon x

Last pregnancy I started feeling sick just before 6 weeks and it lasted until 15 weeks. But have also heard of people having symptoms ease off at 8 or 9 weeks so fingers crossed that's you!

I was same. Was awful. Lost a lot of weight. Came home after my EMCS over a stone lighter than before I got pregnant. Nausea did ease, food aversion lasted most of the pregnancy.

Nausea was what made me take the test.

Mine started at 6 or 7 weeks and had eased off by 9 weeks. I think week 7 was the peak of it.

I’m 7 and a half weeks now and first started feeling queasy on Christmas Day (typical!) when I was 6 and a half. It’s just been an underlying “feel queasy and have no appetite” but for the first time today I was actually sick. Went for brunch with a friend and took one bite of smashed avo on toast and threw up in my napkin… not a good look 🤣🙈

fashionqueen0123 · 30/12/2024 19:18

For me yes I was very sick from week 5 until week 20 with my first. Then until I gave birth with my second.

First pregnancy it started before my BFP so about 8DPO and lasted until just over 14 weeks. This pregnancy didn't start until about six weeks. It's been so much worse (vomiting etc at the same times every day morning and night, waking me up) but by 9 weeks it's really eased off. Still feeling nausea but not on the same level. Hoping this is the beginning of the end of the nausea. Still getting indigestion and a bit of nausea but I can manage it by eating because it's worst when I'm hungry. It's really awful OP. Hope it passes quickly for you. I've got anti-sickness meds from the GP which have helped a bit. Might be worth considering.

I've just recently got into my 6th week and feel awful. I had been fine until a few days ago, I feel constantly nauseous now and like I'm gonna be sick and absolutely exhausted. I'm just going from the sofa to bed and bed to the sofa. If I eat I feel sick, if I don't I feel sick. I've heard it's better after 12 weeks so here's hoping!

ClaudiaRaz · 31/12/2024 08:31

I'm 6+4 and the sickness has really kicked in. Just thrown up 3 times this morning 😩. I'm a bit worried as I have to keep taking some IVF meds up to 12 weeks and I want to be able to keep them down.

Danikm151 · 31/12/2024 08:33

Just past 20 weeks for me. I had cyclizine prescribed after my 12 week scan- wish I’d had it sooner.
Food aversion lasted longer though. I lost 20lb

Marmite1992 · 31/12/2024 09:42

I'm sorry you're feeling so sick. I'm the same. Starting getting nausea and dry retching bang on 6 weeks and aversions to smells that seems to last all day. I'm a dentist and really struggling to do my job 🤢
Funny enough I was worried I didn't have 'enough symptoms' when I first got pregnant.

Dullblue1234 · 31/12/2024 09:57

You don't need to suffer. There's plenty of medication out there to help. Ask for Xonvea 🫶

Blue2020 · 31/12/2024 10:05

It can vary for everyone, but even between pregnancies apparently. With my last I was relatively ok until 6.5/7 weeks and then sick from then until 14 weeks. This time the sickness started at 4 weeks until 9 weeks when it suddenly dissappeared. I also had nausea with this one. Plus headaches but only between 5-6 weeks of pregnancy.
