Hi guys,

Had a call from the midwife and I’ve been put on antibiotics for a UTI - I don’t think I’ve had any usual symptoms such as needing to urinate, burning when going etc however I have had a little fever and flu like symptoms with back and tummy’s pain for a week.

I assumed I just had a cold/flu and little bean was growing doing their thing, can this be that the infection is worse and into my kidneys?

Can’t help but panicking their development is being affected now, please someone tell me it’s not to put my mind at ease 🙈🙈😢

This is our little miracle and I can’t face the thought of something going wrong.

A simple UTI is concerning for you, not baby😊 Make sure you keep that temp under control, regular paracetamol and plenty of fluids. UTIs can be worse in pregnancy and you are more prone to a kidney infection in pregnancy because your kidneys are under more pressure and the vessels in them can become narrowed. But as you've mentioned you have no major symptoms and have started antibiotics so probably won't progress to that. Your job is to rest, avoid temp and stay well hydrated, baby is good! Any worsening symptoms, uncontrollable fevers, rigours, severe back or flank pain I'd be going to hospital. Sounds like all is good though x

Don't worry OP, I ended up going into the pregnancy assessment unit over the weekend for what turned out to be a nasty UTI which I'm now on antibiotics for.

I've had flu symptoms too but no typical UTI symptoms until i then got a pain which went from my side round to my back and wouldn't go away (I'm 27 weeks).

I've been reassured that baby is absolutely fine and I just need to take the course of antibiotics and paracetamols for any pain or discomfort.
