AF after miscarriage

Hi
Does anyone know if you can use tampons in your first AF after a miscarriage? I had a medical miscarriage at 10 weeks and obviously used pads then.

I remember being told the first AF after may be a bit more messy?! I don't want anything left behind, but I did have a scan after the bleeding had stopped and that was fine so I'm probably being over cautious.
Thank you for bearing with me.

Yes if the miscarriage was entire and the bleed ended (ie there has been a break between that bleed and this bleed).

I was told not to - to use pads for first one in case of infection. Also, I did find it quite emotional and upsetting - which really took me by surprise. You might not bbut thought I would mention it.

Sorry for your loss.

Sorry to hear about your loss. Awful thing to go through. I was told not to use tampons, so I used pads for a couple of months, just to be on the safe side. Hated the idea of using pads after years of tampons, but was pleasantly surprised - they're much more streamlined than when I last used them in the 80s...

Thank you for your posts.

I was out at a party wearing a posh frock last night so I did use tampons, but I think I will go back to pads again now just to be sure. You are right about the emotional bit 'chocolate' i think that's why I asked. I felt a bit silly using pads when probably there is no need and then having to explain about it.

Ta again. I've only posted once before and its reassuring to get replies.

yes - better safe than sorry as long as pads aren;t too problematic for you.

hope to see you posting more in the future.
