Me and my partner are about to break the news to my children (18,6) and his two from previous relationship (19,18), his two children haven’t been too keen on our relationship from the beginning. However we do want them all to know at th same time. My partner is going to discuss this with his children, but just looking for any advice on someone who has been in this situation or can advise on different options to try and make this process as simple and at ease for everyone as possible. We feel they may erupt in anger . Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you

I hope you plan on telling them in a positive way.... It's a celebration not a time for making apologies in any form.

Yeh we do plan on making it as positive as we can. We are just unsure how to do this

Have reasonably low expectations - this is just teens. I would probably tell your youngest in a different way. They are likely to react totally differently.

We have just been through this. Hoped to tell them all together but weren't able to see his two (they cancelled the plans). Told my two- DS16, DD12- very happy and excited.
He had to tell his two- DSS15, DSS13, over the phone as didn't want them to find out another way. They said nothing and we have heard nothing since, leaving them to process it at present.
DH was just very matter of fact- I have some exciting news, X is pregnant, you're getting a baby brother in the summer. Asked if they had any questions etc reminded them he loved them, that was that. Not much else you can do tbh!
