Can’t get over the flu

I had a bad cold/flu about 10 days ago, got slightly better after a few days but now it’s back with a vengeance and in my chest. My chest burns with every cough and I feel TERRIBLE. It’s horrid not being able to take much aside from paracetamol 🥲 (I’m 19 weeks).

Has anyone else experienced a cold/flu lasting longer than usual because they’re pregnant? Or any experiences with it perhaps turning into a chest infection? Just trying to work out if this is normal (I’m a first time mum) or whether I perhaps need to try the GP on Monday to see if I need antibiotics.

Please phone 111. You might have a Chest Infection Flowers

Yes, pretty much every bug you get when pregnant is worse 😭 your immune system isn't at it's best. I'm on week 3 of the flu and it is going away, but so slowly. I did see the nurse though just to check there wasn't a chest infection and see if there was anything else I could take. She gave me some spray for my throat. I also think this year's flu strain is pretty awful 😞 Hope you feel better soon

If you're really struggling with coughing/chest pain etc I would deffo check with a doctor that you don't need antibiotics. I caught something less bad than flu at 30 weeks pregnant and it turned into a chest infection, doctor told me that's more likely to happen in pregnancy.

Antibiotics made me feel better very quickly. Hope you feel better soon!

Oh bless you, there's some horrible things going round at the moment.
My dad has had 'flu' now on and off for 3 weeks. It's been absolutely debilitating for him and every time he thinks he's on the mend, it comes back with a vengeance!
Hope you feel better soon.
