Hello I'm due in 7 days.
Consultant booked me in for a sweep today at hospital as baby is a bit big so said could do a sweep to try get moving.

Anyway.. midwife started to do sweep and said your not ready, cervix too far back and she stopped.
That was it

Has anyone has this at my stage?
How can I encourage it to change
I feel really disappointed xxx

Any advance etc etc

Had the exact same today! I'm 39 plus 2. Also big baby. They couldn't get fingers in to sweep as cervix too posterior.
So disappointed.
I have another booked for Monday. I really wanted to avoid induction. I have one booked day after my due date though but still might wait till 41 weeks.

Really really normal and expected at this stage as you're not due yet. It can be normal to go to 42 weeks so likely your body just not ready. The usual things to encourage labour would be walking, squats, lunges, upright forward open position, figure of 8 on the floor, nipple stimulation etc. However don't drive yourself nuts! There's a lot to be said for getting into the right frame of mind - yoga, meditation, relax with a bath/massage/music/favourite movie. Your body is less likely to labour if your stress hormones are high. Easier said than done to relax, I know😅 But still early days x

Really normal at your stage although I know it is disappointing x

Sweeps are only 50% successful anyway, which is another way of saying they might not work!

You’ve probably dodged a not very pleasant bullet.
