SPD- or something else?

Next midwife appointment on the 10th so will ask then if it’s still a problem but wondering if anyone who has had SPD might be able to weigh in.

Left sided pain only- along the inner side of my groin basically along the hip bone. Feels like a serious bruise which gets worse when I put pressure on it - eg when I first sit down or cross my legs while sitting.

No problems with actually moving, can happily stand on one leg, get up and down stairs, walk and carry my three year old etc, currently sat in full butterfly with a heat pack on it and not impacted by the stretching in anyway (although I am hyper mobile) - it’s just this constant deep bruise feeling.

if it is SPD- any suggestions? All the things on the nhs website etc seem to be about alleviating triggers which I don’t currently have !

Thank you

However it doesn't fit with my experience of SPD for me it was the front of the pelvic bone.

However I could do things like breaststroke kicks, it would be fine at the time but I'd pay for it the next day.

yes- most of what I read said front or back but fairly central - hoping it’s not SPD as I’ve heard it’s awful ! Hope yours was manageable

With DC1 it was kicked off by gentle swimming at 22 wks and no clue what was wrong. 4 days later i could hardly move.
Was lucky and got a physio appointment on the Friday, it settled down and was manageable as long as I was careful and followed the rules. Keeping knees together, no breaststroke kicks, get in the car bum first, no swinging legs into the bath etc and no swinging around on hips, ironing, hoovering etc.

With DC2 at 12wks I carried DC1 who was 5 at the time with a nose bleed the length of a swimming pool. The next day I could feel the SPD kicking off and started following the rules again. And had no further issues but was being careful.

If you already have hyper mobility it probably is worth trying to get a physio appointment, but make sure they have maternity knowledge. Your MW should be able to refer you.

Thank you- if it’s still hurting at my next appointment, I’ll ask about getting a physio appointment. With my first I was really diligent about building up all the preventive muscles before I got pregnant - but I couldn’t get to the gym this time round !

i keep feeling I need to stretch it out but if I go into the splits at this point , I’m not sure I’d be getting back up! All the gentle stretches I’ve seen recommended online don’t seem to be working the painful area which is making me wonder if it is SPD- or if it’s just the hyper mobility rendering gentle stretches pretty redundant.
