Maternity pay question

I am entitled to statutory maternity pay which I believe is paid up to 36/39 weeks can’t remember which one? I know you can take a full year off and the last three months are unpaid. But what if I want to take 10 months off instead of a full year.. or 11 months? Am I able to do this? Can’t find any info about it thanks

Hey it’s 39 weeks SMP then up to 13 weeks unpaid, you can decide how many weeks of it you want to take 😊

As PP says, totally up to you how much you take. Also remember you build up annual leave while you're off so can choose to add that to the end so you go back on full pay for a bit. I used mine to go back part time for a few weeks

If you want to go back early you need to give 8 weeks notice of your return so you can choose when you want to go back to work
