Hi everyone, I'm 16 weeks pp, exclusively breastfeeding and haven't gotten my period back yet. I've only had sex 3 times since baby has been born, probably TMI but for info we started off unprotected but put on a condom after like 5 minutes all 3 times. The last week or so I've been crampy and been getting more discharge is this my body just gearing up for my period or could I be pregnant? Is it even likely to get pregnant before my period comes? I've heard of LAM but only when baby feeds no longer than 4 hours during the day and 6 hours at night, and baby sleeps 8-9 hours a night for a few weeks now. She feeds very frequently during the day though.

We used pullout for 2 years with no scares, first cycle trying for baby we concieved. I know that doesn't make it 100% but it worked for us. So I don't know if I'm just being paranoid. The cramps are just throwing me off because I haven't cramped since 3/4 weeks PP. Although cramps are a normal part of being a uterus owner so I might just be being paranoid. Is it even worth wasting money on a test? I've heard milk supply can drop when pregnant and my supply is still the same.

More likely scenario is getting your period back. However it's definitely possible. You can ovulate before your period comes back that's how so many people unfortunately get caught out. You're also super fertile right after having a baby so (no judgement, been there done that) but would consider something more solid than pull out if you don't want to be pregnant again soon! Worth getting a test to put your mind at ease if it's been long enough that you think it would show as positive by now. Good luck x

Definitely possible, one of my friends fell pregnant, pull out method, exclusively BF and hadn’t had a period at 5 weeks PP. Her two boys are Irish twins!

That's what I'm thinking, feeling very depressed and weepy today so thinking AF is on her way back :(

You're definitely right about being more careful, I'm gonna make sure we are going forward, I love my baby more than anything but I want to wait at least 2/3 years before baby number 2. Definitely gonna do a test to put my mind at ease, but I'd be very shocked if it came back positive. But I suppose stranger things have happened! Thank you for your help :)

Damn, what are the odds! I'd be very surprised if I was but now this is making me more paranoid lol. Gonna get a test tomorrow just to make sure!

There’s a reason the midwives start talking about contraception almost as soon as you’ve given birth, so you absolutely could be pregnant I’m afraid. Try not to worry too much though as it also could easily be your period if baby is already mostly sleeping through the night. As soon as DD slept through my periods returned.

My mother relied on breastfeeding after she had my sister. She conceived me at 12 weeks PP.

Good luck, I hope it is just your period arriving.

I would say more than likely your period, I’m also EBF and 16 weeks PP and I’ve just had my first period. Like others said there’s still a chance you’re pregnant of course, so I’d test to be positive. But it does sound like what recently happened to me
