Should get a reassurance scan?

I’m probably getting in my head about this.

10 weeks pregnant with number 2, ivf pregnancy. Had a viability scan at 7 weeks, saw a heartbeat. Not had any bleeding, no cramps, sone mild pregnancy symptoms like sickness etc.

But I’ve had a cold on and off for a good few weeks now, not the same cold but different bugs my toddler brings home from nursery. Just feeling proper run down now a worrying that it could be impacting on the baby? Will they be okay. I’m sneezing all the time!

I’m due my dating scan second week of Jan. Do I just need to hold on? Is everything going to be okay? First pregnancy obviously no other kid so I could just rest when I needed to, sleep as much as I wanted. Probably fine right, women have been having babies for millennia. Can’t be the first women to feel run down at 10 weeks.

Obviously no one here can tell you if things will be ok or not at your next scan, but a cold isn't going to harm your unborn child. Being pregnant is probably making you feel more run down as they take all the nutrients etc from you and then you suffer more. I'd hold out until January. Good luck.

No. A cold will not harm your baby. Just rest up and wait for your 12week scan Flowers

I had a chest infection from 9-11weeks of pregnancy where I was coughing so much I was being sick 1-3 times a day due to the phlegm - tmi. Then on antibiotics for that. Had a sore throat from 12-13 weeks and about 2/3 more cold from 13-17 weeks due to toddler bringing them from nursery (I lost track it was weekly). Baby looked fine at the 12 and 20 week scan despite all that. I did have my flu vaccine at 17ish weeks, after all that I thought I definitely don’t want the flu if I can help it.

I did pay for a private scan at 10 weeks though due to the severe coughing, which eventually caused a bit of strain/pain. Plus other than the coughing (related sickness) my morning sickness had gone from intense 6-8x a day to zero. So I panicked due to the two things together. (My first ever pregnancy was a mmc and then with my toddler I had morning sickness until 14 weeks hence the additional worry of it stopping so early before the placenta takes over).

Im now 22 weeks though and can feel movements.

Good luck with whatever you decide and for your pregnancy. Your colds will not have affected your pregnancy, but equally I would be a hypocrite if I told you not to go for a scan, because I did.

A cold isn't going to harm your baby but if it will settle your mind and you can afford it then get a reassurance scan, we had a private one and a couple of emergency NHS ones and found it helpful even if only temporary 😊

28 weeks here with my second.ive probably managed three weeks where I've not had a cold or bug brought home by DD1 from nursery. Baby seems fine enough in there :-)

Thanks everyone. Good to hear so many of you have been unwell in pregnancy and it’s been fine. I’m going to try and pop my worries to the back of my mind over the next few days and see how I feel after Christmas.

Sounds very sensible. I had covid at 8 weeks pg and it was awful! But part of the reason you're feeling so rough will be thar your body is prioritizing the feotus so you have fewer resources for your own recovery. Hope you feel better soon OP.
