Can you call 111 and ask for an appointment for a scan?

111 won't do anything at 5 weeks unless you're losing a dangerous amount of blood

BroomAdventures · 22/12/2024 09:34

Call your EPU.

Tealpins · 22/12/2024 09:42

EPU for a week late period? Nah, sorry, that will be pointless. I'm sorry, OP, but I don't think this was a goer. Esp if you didn't get a clear test either.

With my second I had bleeding this bad at about this point. Found out I was pregnant around 9dpo and then got bleeding which turned very heavy around 12dpo when I was circa 5 weeks.

I went to my EPU and they did scan me (after a very long wait- so be prepared if you do go) and found a heartbeat.

However the bleeding carried on until I was more than 14 weeks. There were many times when I assumed I must now be miscarrying because the bleeding was insane. No cause was ever found though and, as I say, it stopped abruptly at 14 weeks.

DD2 was then born at 39+4 totally healthy.

This was all a bit baffling as I'd had no bleeding whatsoever with DD1 two years before.

So, in short, that amount of bleeding can have a happy ending - doesn't mean all is lost. Go to your local EPU if you feel up to it. Good luck.

I honestly don’t have a clue on what’s going on. I have 3 fainted pregnancy test results, I’m having bleeding with clots but no pain. Help me please don’t know what’s going on. Am I MC ?**

Have you ever heard of empathy? She said she’s estimated to be 5w6d. EPU will scan from 6w so I don’t agree it’s pointless. And she didn’t say she didn’t get a clear test, she said she had 3 faint ones. Faint or not, a positive test is a positive test.

Tealpins · 22/12/2024 15:23

Really? We have a poster offering a previous pregnancy that worked. There are two states of the world - either this pregnancy has taken and will succeed or the OP is miscarrying. I think it's v likely she's miscarrying but none of us can know. My experience in EPU was bleak when I lost a pregnancy at 10 weeks. I think a lot of places won't see her at this point. So, I don't think there's anything much useful to do in EPU and they won't do anything that changes the outcome. Perhaps that's brutal but OP wants to know if she's miscarrying and what to do. I would stay at home and have a cry, rather than sit for hours surrounded by pregnant women to be patronised at EPU.

Okayornot · 22/12/2024 15:28

OP, no one can tell you what is going on based on pictures of blood.

Quite a few women bleed in early pregnancy and are not miscarrying. In others it will be a sign of miscarriage.

There is nothing you or anyone else can do to change the outcome of this in any way. You should try not to worry, as worrying won't help, and retest in a week or so.

Sorry you are having this anxious time.

Nc546888 · 22/12/2024 15:30

I don’t think you’ll get your answer here OP I’m really sorry. Please call your midwife, I’m really sorry this is happening to you

ccchan · 22/12/2024 15:52

I had that v early in my pregnancy. Rang hospital, but they told me to stay home and wait it out. I had clots the size of a 50p. It went well, my DC is 14yo now.
Try not to worry. Drs will not do anything that early in pregnancy.

Lillygolightly · 22/12/2024 16:04

Unfortunately OP no one can really give you any definitive answers. I myself had a pregnancy loss and there was no bleeding to indicate a loss and I’ve had a successful pregnancy with lots of bleeding.

The bleeding could be for several reasons; sub-chronic hematoma, cervical ectropion, multiple pregnancy, chemical pregnancy, miscarriage are among the most common.

Sadly there is often little you can do other than wait and see which is torturous I know 💐 I will be thinking of you and wishing you the very best xxx
