Hiya, i am 28 weeks pregnant, i went into a&e last week with severe rib and back pain, they suspected a blood clot of the lung so did blood tests that suspected this also, then an xray then sent me away with herparin injections twice a day (i hate hate hate them) and said i would only have to take them up until my VQ scan which is Monday mid-day. Is this correct? As i have googled it and it says you can’t just stop taking them but the nurse said its just for a week until the scan? I dont know what to think because i have my hopes up of only 2 more days of this injection hell but then google says if you stop them it can be dangerous! I just want this over with, i am still in so much pain everyday and mentally exhausted.

You will be able to stop them if there’s no clot on the scan.

Hey, sounds really stressful. If the scan is negative then yes you'll just be stopping them. You're on them as a precaution pending the scan. If the scan is positive then you'll stay on them. Not dangerous to stop if there's no clot.

Aw thank you so much for your reply, i know alot of women go through this but i just feel unbelievably stressed, my partner has been doing my injections (no training what so ever) and he is just as stressed as we are both very queasy! I am hoping the scan comes back clear and they can discover what is causing this chronic pain!

Not nice at all. I never realised how painful those injections are until I was on them after my c section for 10 days. Why do some hurt way more than others??😂 Really hope your scan is clear and you can get an answer for the pain x
