So im 16 and like i took tests, my first 1 i took on Saturday and i thought it was negative then about 10 minutes later a faint line had come through that i didnt realise. Sunday morning i took a clearblue one and once again after 2-3 minutes after taking it was negative but i check again and theres a bright blue line. I took one today well this morning and a blue line came through a lot quicker im just not sure if im pregnant or if it is evaporation lines because it exceeds the time frame.

Hi lovely,
Have you missed your period? Were you planning for this?
Usually anything out of the timeframe is invalid, but if one came up straight away today there could be a chance? x

Do you have an Aunty or close older friend you can talk too?

PlantDoctor · 17/12/2024 09:16

You need to carefully follow the instructions to be sure. Evaporation lines aren't usually bright though, so it's possible you're pregnant. Do you know roughly how far along you would be? I think the first midwife appointment is at around 9 weeks. Are you ok?

NewMum3000 · 17/12/2024 09:16

I would say two lines most likely means pregnant. It took me five years to get pregnant and I never once had a test show a second blue line after a while even though I wasn’t pregnant.

if you’ve tested early it’s probably that your hormones are still low and it’s taken it’s time to show on the test. The fact it’s come through quicker this time probably means the pregnancy hormone is getting stronger.

Are you reading the test instructions as some of them have 20 min window, others more or less but after 2-3 minutes may not be enough time.

Thankyou and wow 5 years bless your heart i hope you are blessed now. I think it is early too and I feel a lot of pressure on me because i don’t know what I would want to do yet. People are making me believe i should just abort it so i guess its impacting my decision even though i haven’t decided yet.

Get a digital test so there is no room for doubt. It will say pregnant or not pregnant. There is no point worrying prematurely until you know for sure.

Most tests are only made for taking 6 days before your period is due, and they're most reliable the closer you are to your expected period. Take another test when your period is just a couple days away. X

IdgieThreadgoodeIsMyHeroine · 17/12/2024 10:06

It's definitely very early to be taking a test- they're not meant to be used until a missed period, so they won't be very reliable at this stage. I'm sure you want to know now, but you will probably need to wait for a few more days.

I'm glad you've told your stepmum- I hope she is being supportive. If it turns out you aren't pregnant, please discuss birth control with her.

Whether you are pregnant or not, you will need an STD test- I'm sure your stepmum can help you organise this.

Please don't let anyone pressure you into an abortion- you need to consider all options if it turns out you are pregnant, and no one else should be pressuring you.

Good luck x

I hope everything went ok today. You have plenty of time and plenty of options, especially as you are finding out quite early. Don't feel pressure to do anything - just take some time to think.

First you need an accurate test and it sounds like you might be testing too early. Did you step mum help you?
