Pregnacare before conception delay period

Hi all I’m in need of some advice , I was tracking ovulation, ovulated and tried to conceive… I started to take pregnacare before conception tablets a week later. Have been using them for 7 days, and my period is late by about a day. Pregnancy test is negative. Could it be late because of these tablets ? I’ve read the reviews how it delays periods :/ but would taken them for 7 days do that that quick? And also if I took them after I ovulated would that still impact my period? HELP PLEASE

They did also mess up my cycles and delayed my period so I stopped taking them

how delayed was your period?

The first month it was maybe two days late and started quite slow and the second month it was 5 days

How long were you taking them? I only used for 7 days before throwing them away x

I thought they were delaying my period, stopped taking them, period went back to normal. So I thought it was definitely that. Then it got even more irregular even though I wasn’t taking them anymore. I even did a pregnancy test one month. Got tests done to see what the problem was. It was just the start of peri in the end. But early on I swore blind it was the pregnacare.

Not long the first time, I think I started just after ovulation because I remember thinking it might be too late for that cycle!

Yes, I had a 2yo dd at the time. I had decided to stop ttc for another for other reasons anyway. I was relieved there wasn’t anything wrong, but it did come as a bit of a shock because I was only 36.

jennywrites · 17/12/2024 21:57

Each time i took these my period came quite a bit later than normal for me

Solisa · 18/12/2024 17:44

How many days late were you?

Sorry I just saw this. Around 4-5 days late which was really unusual. I remember it was like torture as I was trying and got excited each time

Solisa · 20/12/2024 08:29

I’m currently 3 days late still no sign of AF I’ve defo put it down to these damn tablets. Not preg , had a blood test to check

Yep. The company say that the tablets don't interfere with cycles but they are either lying, or haven't fully understood the mechanism of action of their product and its influence on female hormone production.

I'm sorry to hear that you're not pregnant this time. I just switched to a normal multivitamin and folic acid from Tesco in the end, and had no problemsSmile

IDontDrinkTea · 20/12/2024 12:26

I ended up with 44 day long cycles when taking these 😳 switched to seven seas instead and straight back to normal

CustardCream31 · 20/12/2024 12:33

They mucked up my cycle too, and had since read so many other people say the same. Think mine was around 4 days late but I honestly can't remember now. Stopped taking them immediately when I realised.

Solisa · 21/12/2024 22:39

Just got my period now, albeit it’s very light .. day 40! My usual cycle is 32-34 days. I stopped taking these after I had taken them for 7 days. What a joke !!!

I'm so grateful for this thread. I have been using pregnacare for about 7/8 weeks. At start I was only a couple of days from period and had a really strange one, 10 days and patchy. Then since then, nothing- now 15 days late and negative pregnancy tests. Going to talk to pharmacist today and switch to a folic acid and vitamin D instead. Really hoping my cycle returns, I'm so worried.

MyUniqueDeer · 26/12/2024 11:44

They delayed my period by around 4 days, but I stopped taking them a few days before as I then started reading about the delay.
I then started taking folic acid and vit d from boots x

Eviberzi · 19/03/2025 20:32

My period also delays right now 2 days already!! ... i think this pregnacare is big big scam.. too many woman complain .. i wounder how noone sue the company and how they still can sell this poison in market!

noveladdict · 20/03/2025 08:53

After I stopped taking it (when my period was several weeks late) I swiched to folic acid with vitamin D. I finally had a period, and then a month later I found out I'm pregnant, so that's been a huge relief. I really wouldn't take pregnacare ever again from my own experience, though I know it's worked for some other people.
