Hi
Am 32 weeks pregnant,on searching net there seems to be much variation as to best time to start taking rasp.leaf caps./tea,some say 34wks,some say 38 wks etc.
When can you start taking them?& also read something about if they make your B.hicks stronger you should reduce the dose,is that right?
Thanks...R.

I started taking them around 35 weeks although depending what you read it should either have been earlier or later!
Start with one cup a day for the first week, then two and listen t your body, I never noticed any braxton hicks but it seems to make sense that if they get more too early then cut back on whatever you have changed.

32 weeks is too soon. Wait until term so from 37/8 weeks.

I took one on the Sunday, baby born Monday but I saw my midwife on friday and she felt I may have been in early labour.

Missed out, he was 10 days early.

I took mine in tea form from 20 weeks from a herbalist. She thought you could take them from conception! TBH though I really don't think it did anything. Tea is the best way to take it though apparently.

LOL talk about conflicting advice!

the tea tastes foul and has no proven link to bringing on labour - well, how can you possibly prove it? There are much nicer things to drink when you are in late pregnancy and fed up (G and T in particular).

Agree, I wouldn't drink the tea for pleasure but had a lovely birth so will drink it again. It can't hurt

I have been told by a homeopathist it is safe to drink 1 cup of rltea a day from 28 wks, 2 a day from 32 wks and any amount from 35 wks. I did this with ds and had a very efficient labour, and he was born on his due date (1st baby). Obvoiusly will never know how much the rlt had to do with it but I like to think it can only help. I have drank it with this pg (my date is Tuesday, hosp scan says week on Mon) but am holding off now as dh is in Spain till Wed! I've always had strong B Hicks, too.

I liked the tea. I can't tell you if it worked or not. DS was two weeks early, first born, DD was two weeks late. Both times I drank RLT from neil's yard from about 36 weeks onwards... Worth a try IMO - i liked the taste FWIW!

We all seem to have conflicting advice!...I thought that it was the last month of pregnancy, but have just checked the tablets I have from my last pg and it says 28 weeks on the label.

I did drink the tea during the last month last time. I used to make a pot of it and just have several cups in a row. I don't usually like herbal/fruit teas (only 'normal' tea!) but did like the raspberry leaf. I have heard since though that you need to drink huge amounts for it to be effective.

My labour was fine, but then so was my first one and I didn't have any that time. I was under the impression that it helped with toning the uterus afterwards than helping in labour.
