I have had debilitating sickness for the past 3 weeks and it honestly feels like a lifetime! I didn't have this with my first so it's all new to me. I just wanted to ask others who experienced nausea and vomiting how long theirs lasted? I get it is different for everyone but I want to see how common it is for it to go beyond the 12 week mark which I am really hoping is rare! I am hoping most say it does get better after 12 weeks! First pregnancy it lasted on and off till about 14/15 weeks.

This time it was horrendous until about 18 weeks. Now almost 25 weeks and just randomly had a full day of throwing up today for the first time in ages!

It's so hard OP, I sympathise.
With both I did get better at around 12 weeks but with my first it didn't completely go into 16 weeks, and with my second I didn't feel quite as bad anyway but it lasted off and on until 28 weeks!

OptimisticRealist2024 · 11/12/2024 16:58

I'm 12+2 and it's starting to ease up (still retching and feel nauseous all the time though). Mine started about 7 weeks, so know how you feel - it's been a long 5 weeks....! Take care of yourself.

romdowa · 11/12/2024 17:03

I'm 11 weeks and no signs of it easing . My first pregnancy it didn't ease till around 14 weeks but I was still gagging and retching occasionally till I gave birth

30STMK · 11/12/2024 17:03

With my first I had it the whole time, even at the hospital when I was in labour. Hopefully that’s not the case for you but it eventually becomes the norm 😂

Thingymajigi · 11/12/2024 17:04

Around 18 weeks for both. You have my sympathy - it's horrible!!

Negangirlxx · 11/12/2024 17:09

From about 7 weeks until around 16 weeks, I think? But I had the odd episode of vomiting in the third trimester, too. Pregnancy is so wonderful! 🙄😂

Fridgetapas · 11/12/2024 17:10

I’d say you’re in the peak right now. Mine started getting better from 11 weeks and gone completely by 14/15 weeks

Allswellthatendswelll · 11/12/2024 17:11

First pregnancy 18 weeks

This pregnancy 22 weeks and counting but it isn't as bad as at 9/ 10 / 11 weeks so hopefully you will get some ease up!

Same here. You really do get used to it 😅

It didn't. Got worse in fact when indigestion kicked in (ugh Gaviscon gross gross gross).

HPandthelastwish · 11/12/2024 17:20

Delivery day.

Bonus was I was two dress sizes smaller at the end of my pregnancy than I was at the start.

However if you are that sick you should be on medication and getting IV hydrated as and when is appropriate.

Oh my god. Gaviscon set me off a few times too! Worst thing was, I had terrible heartburn, and it was the only thing that would resolve it. I’d have it, and within a few minutes, it was back up! 😭

lakesiders · 11/12/2024 17:23

Last time I threw up was during labour (!) subsequent pregnancies similar :(

Otto223 · 11/12/2024 19:12

14/15 weeks for me. Before that I never thought it was going to end, I struggled so much, sick all day everyday

MiracleOctopus · 12/12/2024 09:22

Mine started at 5 week and still going strong at 14+3

CrocsNotDocs · 12/12/2024 09:24

17 weeks, 3 days for all 3 pregnancies. No joke- it was that exact and disappeared overnight each time. So sorry. It is just the worst.

PeppyMintCrab · 12/12/2024 09:27

Mine seemed to get even worse at the 12 week mark, had another few bad weeks, then eased at around 16 weeks x

sleepandcoffee · 12/12/2024 09:32

14 weeks with both my pregnancies it started to improve a lot , still the occasional nausea and sickness but it wasn't all day and all consuming

Namechange5555555555 · 12/12/2024 09:37

16 weeks for both

LilyJane95 · 12/12/2024 13:14

For me it was from 7 weeks until 16 weeks, with week 9 being the worst week by a mile.

IDontLoveTheWayYouLie · 12/12/2024 13:15

Until I had went to hospital and had them 🤦‍♀️

Potato1234 · 12/12/2024 17:14

It didn’t! I’m currently bed bound still at 36 weeks with HG. You may have HG too. Have you got medication?

Allswellthatendswelll · 12/12/2024 17:22

I read something today that said the level of sickness you have at 20 weeks is where you stay. No idea if its true but makes sense for me.

muddlingthrou · 12/12/2024 17:43

16 weeks with my first, 15 weeks with my second. As a PP mentioned, 9 weeks is often the peak (it was for me, both times). Ugh, it is the pits - hope it lifts for you soon!
