Gulp. For some reason I have a big fear of getting diabetes. The midwife told me it was a tiny trace, and she's not worried just yet.
[Also, trace of protein and something else which sounded like lucozade!!. Have just finished antibiotics for an urine infection, and just eaten a giant jam tart before giving the sample.]

What can it be, and can I do anything? Have I caused it by eating too much chocolate? Anyone else had this and it went away by itself?

Apparently urine glucose tests are totally unreliable. I had glucose in my urine through my whole pregnancy, but a normal glucose tolerance test. But I talked to my friend who does laboratory urine tests, and the consultant she works for said that it really means nothing at all, and is pretty much pointless. So don't worry.

The protein and leucocytes (white blood cells) will be from your urine infection most probably.

Thanks - that helps a lot. I love mumsnet - you actually get information that the books/medical staff won't tell you.

Strange, though, how I'm so hung up about diabetes, but not so concerned about pre-eclampsia! I'm (was!!) size 8 though, and had visions of trying to push out a 10 pounder...
