I have been battling a cold/mild bronchitis and sinus infection last few weeks. I have been feeling mosty fine during it apart from cough and sinus pain. Went to docs today as chest still wheezing a bit nothing major. She prescribed amoxicillin as suspected secondary infection. The thing is I’ve just done a test and I’m pregnant after having a miscarriage last month. It’s still early days. Is this safe during early pregnancy?

Please call your GP. This isn't the kind of advice you should be seeking from strangers on the internet.

Yes you need to check with your GP. Many antibiotics are OK in pregnancy but some aren't and the recommended doses may be different.
Get some proper medical advice.

This feels a little harsh. We had a discussion that there was a possibility I might be pregnant as I am trying again after my miscarriage. Plus I am breastfeeding. We put a plan in place if I was and she didn’t mention I couldn’t take them. I have another app tomorrow so will obviously discuss then but was just looking for some advice until then.

Hi
Healthcare professional here. Amoxicillin is safe in pregnancy and no dose adjustments needed.

Sorry, I didn’t mean for it to come across harshly! I just think these things are better off discussed with your GP. I had something similar last week. I was prescribed antibiotics but the leaflet clearly said shouldn’t be given to women in their first trimester unless needed. Goodluck!

Thank you ❤️ I assumed it was ok as the gp didn’t mention it wasn’t safe but now I know I am pregnant (found out after gp closed) and I have started taking them already had a wobble. Will discuss with gp tomorrow anyway!
