St Thomas Hospital Appointment

Hi all, I've just found out I'm pregnant (so excited!!). I'll be a first time mum and I'm currently 4 weeks and 3 days. I live in SE London and I've made a self referral to St Thomas hospital today. Just wondering around when should I expect to hear back from them? I didn't receive any acknowledgement email after the referral. Thanks!

Your first appointment will be a check in with the midwife when you're 8 weeks. You'll probably get a date for that appointment in a couple of weeks

It took about a week for me then they text me with date for 8 week midwife appointment and 12 week scan

I had my booking appt last week there and scan and consultant are next week. Booking is usually 8-10 weeks so hopefully you will hear back soon.

PS if you are out of borough, midwife appts are now in Kennington…

@anicecuppateaa thank you so much! At the end of the self referral it said they will reach out within 4 weeks. Did it take that long for you after the referral? Good to know about Kennington. The form said out of catchment appointments would be at elephant at castle which I was happy about. I live just outside of catchment on the other side of Burgess Park..

Not for me, I has an appt within a week although I didn’t do my referral until late for many reasons, so was hurried through. Maybe its Elephant & Castle…..I got the bus from London Bridge….

Hi, I was thinking to self refer to St Thomas as well but unsure about Elephant and Castle branch. Do you know their CQC rating? Wondering if the care will be similar to the one in Westminster. Thanks

Hi, I have my first midwife appointment this week. As far as I know the Kennington/ Elephant and Castle is just the site for midwife appointments for out of catchment patients, but any scans etc will be at St Thomas and the delivery as well will be at St Thomas. The CQC rating for St Thomas applies I believe which was 'Good' when I last checked. The individual sites won't have individual CQC ratings.

Hi, did you manage to get an appointment now? I also did self referral on 9 Dec 2024, but did not receive any reply in text or mail. I will be 12weeks pregnant this week. When I tried to call them for an hour then when it’s my time the line has been cut.

Hi, yes I had my first midwife appointment today (I'm 9 weeks today). They reached out within 10 working days after the self referral. I would definitely call them again. It's strange you haven't heard from them yet.

Hi, just this afternoon I received a text message from them about my 1st midwife appointment this weekend. It’s 1 month from my self referral submission. Finally, the waiting is over.
