Gagging every time I go to the bathroom?! Weird!

Hey guys! I’m currently 7+4 and I haven’t really had any strong food aversions, just a little over the last few days and I was sick for the first time yesterday 😫 however every single time I go to the bathroom I am gagging. There’s no smell or anything. It’s literally from when I’m walking to the bathroom! How weird?! Literally every single time I go to the bathroom!

This reminds me of my last pregnancy with DS 2 years ago which was really easy and smooth but I used to randomly gag at the weirdest things. For example, I used to gag when I saw some of the games on my phone that I used to play all the time before my last pregnancy! I’ve lost it I know! But what on earth how weird is that? I didn’t gag at food or smells, but at apps on my phone?! I know I sound mental! 😂😂 at least this time it’s the thought of going to the bathroom that makes me gag. I’m really weird I know.

Does anyone else gag or feel nauseous at the weirdest things or objects in pregnancy? Or have I really gone mad? 😂

I haven’t had this sort of thing but I think it’s perfectly normal.

i mean, from a biological standpoint, your body is doing really good if it injects caution around bathrooms, full as they are of pathogens.

I mean, mobile phones are also rife with Bacteria and viruses. Probably the dirtiest things you interact with daily.

Bodies are weird. And amazing.

Sorry, didn’t mean to type ‘I mean’ at the beginning of each clause. I am human, honest.

Thank you! It’s just so weird haha! And so annoying too as I need to pee a lot already, and every time I go to the bathroom I’m gagging 😂 and at a few foods too.

The first trimester I gagged when I opened my fridge, the smell of my husband, my dog and tbh most smells in my house 🤣

I do too sometimes when I open my fridge 😫 and brushing my teeth is the worst!

I'm 37 weeks now and every single time I brush my teeth I still gag! If I try and brush my tongue my eyes start watering 🙈

Your body is just being amazing. Don’t worry about it, it’s trying to look after you and your baby.

i still can’t eat a type of cheese I randomly took against in pregnancy 17 years ago. Still have the visceral reaction I had then. Totally harmless foodstuff, never did work that one out!

ArghMyEars · 07/12/2024 22:37

My DS is now 7 months but your post reminds me of how I gagged at random things too. The smell of the inside of my car, a bus (even a clean smelling one), melted wax at my beauty appointment, and weirdly, the change in air temperature going from inside a warm building to the cold air outside.

SnapdragonToadflax · 07/12/2024 23:05

I gagged at everything. Weirdest was when I washed my face... I could brush my teeth ok, which normally causes gagging, but washing my face? So weird.

I wonder if there's a bit of mould in the bathroom that you can't detect but your nose is picking up? Or just the thought of the toilet, and your body is protecting you from germs?

SnapdragonToadflax · 07/12/2024 23:20

@ArghMyEars Warm air made me gag! I was fine with fresh, cold air, but even slightly stale air or going from air conditioning at work to the street outside in summer made me gag.

Also supermarkets, the fridge, the car, certain bushes, the smell of water... 🤮🙄

LostittoBostik · 07/12/2024 23:26

I couldn't open the fridge without gagging. There wasn't a specific smell but just the whole fridge made me retch every day

I used to gag and be sick every time i dried my hair with the hairdryer.

alwaysonadiet1 · 07/12/2024 23:53

Perhaps due to the nasties in bathroom cleaning products.

dreamerkr · 08/12/2024 01:02

Woke up needing to use the bathroom and ended up vomiting 🥺

Almost in third trimester and cleaning bathrooms make me gag and I always retch brushing my teeth so I have to do it before I have food, or at least an hour after eating so I'm not sick.

Perfect excuse to get a cleaner to clean my bathrooms 😁

YorkshirePeridot · 08/12/2024 08:45

I'm 12 weeks and also been gagging in every bathroom visit since about 6 weeks, doesn't matter which bathroom, could be any in my house or one at work. Also my utility room but we think that's because the cat litter tray is in there. So not just you and it's kind of a relief to see that someone else has the exact same triggers 😆

Rainbow321 · 08/12/2024 08:50

When I walked home from work , I'd literally get into one road and chuck up , walking into Asda had the same effect .
As awful as it is , you might have to just live with it for the first few weeks until it does away.

Therealmetherealme · 08/12/2024 15:30

I'd had this when pregnant, just the sight of the toilet. It could be perfectly clean and no smell, but I would gag. It was odd and annoying. I was actually sick a few times.
