Really upset with scan date

I am currently pregnant with dc3, no idea of my dates as I gt pregnant straight after a miscarriage in Feb. I had a BFP at the end of March.

I went to see the GP, last week, who said that she would refer me for a scan within 10 days so we could date the scan and also for reassurance as I am going mad checking for symptoms constantly and seem to spend most of the day in the loo checking.

I got my scan date through from the hospital and it is on 23rd May, which is 4 weeks away, I think I will explode before I get there!

Has anyone else had this, will it make any difference if I stamp my feet at the surgery or shall I just bite the bullet and pay for a private scan?

Maybe call the EPU? or go private and you can have one the same day sometimes.

Yes I am exactly in your boat, m/c in feb bfp end of march. I called my EPU and booked my own scan-earliest they would do it was around the 8 week mark, I may have been slightly out when I gave them the bfp dat (by about a week!) but i did get my scan and now have another booked in 2 weeks as a proper dating scan. Phone your local epu and stand your ground.

Poor you, it must be v. stressful. I don't think they are very tuned in to how anxious a pregnancy is likely to be for parents after loss. I'm 18 weeks with no.4 and recently had a v. heavy bleed - ended up on the gynae emergency ward, but was then told no scan till the next day to check if the baby was still alive. DH was very upset and told the dr. that we'd had a miscarriage and a stillbirth at 36 weeks and that this was v. stressful, but she just said "that's completely different". In the event everything was fine but it was another sleepless night.

Try the surgery and as suggested see if you can be referred to an epu, although in my experience gp's often find hospital scheduling a nightmare too. If you get no joy try privately, it will be worth the money though they may want to check you're at least 6 weeks as I think that's when a hb can be detected?

Call up the hospital and ask them if you can get in earlier. My GP put my dates down wrong so they had me due one month later than I actually am. When I didn't get a scan date by 11 weeks I called them and they fit me right in and it's a very busy hospital. Your GP may have sent them the wrong information or something.

Was this appointment arranged through the "book and choose" system? If so it's a complete nightmare and doesn't work at all! It may be worth calling your midwife team directly and seeing if they can bring it forward at all?

our EPU sees people after m/c at 6 or 8 weeks, you can try to self refer by phoning them

I have spoken to the surgery and they got the ultrasound department to phone me - the woman I spoke to was really nice and said that the hospital does not do early scans now as they do the nuchal scan at 12 weeks so have had to stop doing early scans which is no help to me, but there is nothing she can do to bring the date forward. I don't think that there is an EPU at the hospital, I was referred to emergency gynae when I had my MC.

She has given me a number of someone I can phone to get a private scan booked so have just left a message. I think I am about 8/9 weeks, which is the time I had the last miscarriage so I am worrying myself stupid at the moment and really pleased that I feel tired and sick!

it it helps I had a m/c before dd1 and I'm sitting her cooking dc3 with no futher m/c inbetween

Have booked a private scan for Saturday morning - so worrying about that now! I am so glad that we have the option to do this I would go mad waiting for another 4 weeks.

23rd is only 3 weeeks away nad not 4 ig that makes you feel any better!
