Hi girls, for those of you in the UK, if you’ve been prescribed suppressive antibiotic therapy for a recurrent UTI (taking a small dose every day), what antibiotic have they prescribed? I’m just trying to compare with mine, as I’m a bit worried about taking one daily. Thank you🙏💗

Well I was given cefalexin 500mg to take nightly from the age of 14 for interstitial cystitis and recurrent infections, to increase to 3 a day for acute infections. I’m 44 now and managed to stop taking them completely 2 years ago by switching to amitriptyline and occasionally Tramadol for pain relief. I appreciate I’m an extreme case, most don’t take antibiotics for as long as me! I’ve ended up with huge issues from invasive Candida because of it and now have to take fluconazole 50mg almost daily long term. Make sure you’re under the care of a good urologist.
