Hi moms,
I am taking Nexium tablet 40mg every day due to severe heart burn and acid reflux. I am unable to take iron or calcium due to same issues of vomiting episodes. I can't eat properly also. I am 27 weeks pregnant. Its my first and I am mentally suffering thinking about so many unwanted things related to pregnancy. This baby is after six years if fighting infertility treatments. Struggled with hypermesis till six months. Its eased now. Is nexium bad. Other name is esomoprzole for the same. I cannot manage without it. Did anyone took it? I really need some sort of support. All scans are looking good till now by Almighty infinite grace. But am on an emotional rollercoaster. I am also thinking if i would go. Preterm many moms had mentioned in different groups. How good are we at 27 weeks

I took omperazole in pregnancy which is the same drug as esomperazole. There are mirror images in nature look at your hands. Omperazole has both hands where as esomperazole only has the most active hand.
I had sickness through the first and third trimesters and heartburn through the third. I was on cyclizine too. No issues with my daughter. She does have reflux too and has been on omperazole since 8 weeks - she's now 4 and is on 40mg a day too! Her reflux is unrelated to mine.

I was also on an mental health medication in pregnancy which meant my daughter had some extra monitoring for a few days after birth.

These meds have been used in so many pregnancies and they are safe.

My dad was born at 28 weeks in 1960s weighing 2lb 3oz. This was the edge of life in the 60s and my gran was told to go home and grieve for her son. He survived and came home 8 weeks later once we weight 5lb 8oz and had no long term consequences. Technology has come along way since the 60s and 27 weeks is very early and it might be a long journey but lots make it through. I relaxed a lot more in pregnancy once I got passed 28 weeks as it felt that every day from then on things should hopefully be better.

Is there risks of premature birth or is this driven by anxiety? If it's anxiety how much of your time is taken up by these thoughts, are they something you could talk to someone about?
