Had my second cervical sweep today, had my bloody show etc, had some tightening earlier that have stopped, baby's heads very low in my cervix,
Generally feeling fine after feeling very poorly this morning, sweating nausea etc

However now I just keep getting the sensation that I need to push, like I keep thinking I need the toilet rushing off to the loo but then it's just more blood and mucus, no contractions though, im not in any rush for her to come I'm booked in for an induction on Monday anyway, but has anyone else experienced this? Is it normal? They say listen to your body and I am but I don't want to do myself any damage and be pushing and putting pressure down there if I'm not meant to, but really feels like I need the loo 🤣

Do you think baby's head has dropped quite low? Pressure from the head would feel very similar to pressure from needing a bowel motion. If you have moved your bowels and don't think it's that, then I'd say it's baby's head alright.
Be careful with the pushing thing though, pushing on your cervix can do damage so that's why you only push when fully dilated. The pressure can be so uncomfortable though, I feel you! Hopefully a sign that baby is getting ready to make their arrival!

The midwife did say her heads very low & that's what I'm worried about damaging something, getting some mild cramps again but yeah definitely no contractions, ever such a weird sensation! 🙈

When you say blood, do you mean blood streaked mucus? Or blood blood? Because if you're getting bleeding I'd be straight up to triage. Actually, I would anyway with urges to push.

Yes bloody mucus, not like free flowing blood, and got my two children with me asleep in bed so can't really just up and go unless it's the real deal gonna see how I get on it ver the next couple of hours, will ring triage if it keeps happening as the last thing I want to do is be giving birth on the bathroom floor 😳

How fast were your other labours? Maybe put a few towels down just in case 😅

MarigoldSpider · 05/12/2024 22:06

I don’t understand how you’re not in a rush to meet baby but you’ve had 2 sweeps 😂

When I was in labour my body pushed on its own and it was very obvious when baby was moving down past the cervix.

It might be worth finding out how dilated you are. A lot of early labour is your body working out which muscles to use to effectively dilate the cervix.

I have known friends have sweeps that very quickly resulted in a baby like within a few hours. So you never know! But if it was happening it would be more obvious, especially if this is your first.

Same here, my body did all the pushing, I just came along for the ride. 2cm to holding a baby in 40 mins. Midwife wasn't even in the room...

Sorry cross post!! If it’s your third baby and you don’t want a home birth then yes get to the hospital!!!

I didn’t have transition with my second. Things went from early labour to head out very quickly

They're inducing me Monday at 39 weeks, I didn't have the upmost confidence the sweeps would be very effective as both my other children were late but figured it would make my cervix more favourable for the induction you see

My first was 8 hours but she was back to back, my second I had a spontaneous vertex delivery, had contractions running up to it but once my waters went he was out within minutes, I do feel fine I don't feel like I'm in labour, I did however think I'd be more certain this time around though with it being my third, maybe as she's a little bit earlier compared to my other two she's not quite ready, god knows 🙈

How are you doing today @scarlettewrath ?

scarlettewrath · 06/12/2024 15:11

Everything seems to have nearly stopped bleeding wise, the pushing sensation ground to a holt and I'm feeling better in myself, need to ring triage later to see if they can fit me in for one last sweep before Monday and then hopefully get relaxed sunday ready to meet our little girl Monday 🥰
