Hi there just wanted to see if anyone’s been in the same situation as I am
I’m 11 weeks pregnant and have had red painful lumps appear on my shin, they change from bruises to lumps.
I had one and saw a doctor and he said it erythema nodosum and said it can be just because I’m pregnant but can’t give me anti inflammatory tablets and told me to rest as much as I can, I’ve also had blood tests to ensure if nothing underlying but all the tests came back with is that my potassium and sodium levels were low. I’ve now have the lumps for over 4 weeks and there are more appearing daily and it’s painful to even walk and wondered how long will this last ? Surely they won’t stick around for the whole of my pregnancy?

I had the same in 2021 when I wasn’t pregnant around the same time of year and it was very severe. I had lumps on both shins and feet and was painfully swollen- they sent me to several doctors and was left untreated and undiagnosed- I was referred to a dermatologist but the wait was over a year and they cleared up after 6 months so time I saw a professional they had nothing to see except pictures and told me to come back if it happens again . I am now being referred this time around for a dermatologist but have been told the wait is around 2 years which seems excessive and I’m praying I don’t have them this long

so what I’m asking is has anyone else had erythema nodosum? Or had erythema nodosum in pregnancy? And how long does it typically last ? And if you have any tips on how to manage them , bathing / showering makes the lumps painful and swell and I’ve noticed today I wore cuffed tracksuit bottoms and my leg is a lot more swollen
