I’m 16 weeks pregnant with my second baby, two weeks a go I did a canestest as I had itching down there and read so much online about how bv can affect the baby and cause miscarriage. It showed positive for bv so got some metronidazole from GP.
A week later I tested again with the canestest and tested positive for bv again so went to the GP and had a swab done for thrush as they weren’t concerned about the bv. Swab came positive for thrush, treated it, left it a few days and tested positive again for bv using canestest so got back in touch with GP and they prescribed more metronidazole.
I am now driving myself crazy with worry convinced i’m going to lose this baby and feel like the bv will never go (that’s if the self test is even accurate) and the GP say there is no test that they can do for bv and i’ve now spent £25 on self swabs.

Feeling helpless, if anyone has any advice please let me know.

Sorry, I don't have any advice but how can your GP say there's no test for BV? I suspected I had it, I went to my GP and they did a swab and sent it off to the lab. I was also prescribed metronidazole. I'm currently 5+ weeks and was horrified to read the leaflet advising against it for pregnant women!
