Felt movements since 16 weeks. Very few today. Having a wee stress. My scan is tomorrow. I'm scared and wish baby moved more tonight.

2nd baby .

I have my 20 week scan tomorrow too. I haven’t even thought about reduced movements yet, there’s no rhythm some days I will feel them quite well and others hardly at all. Mine started at about 17-18 weeks. I take any movement as reassurance. Still anxious about tomorrow though.

I'm 23+3 now and not settled into much of a pattern with movements yet although they are definitely getting more frequent.
I still have days where I feel more and less..... and why does it always seems to be less in the run up to a scan making the usual dreaded scanxiety even worse?

Great that you've got a scan tomorrow, hopefully that will put your mind at rest

If you are ever worried about your baby's movements you need to be checked tonight. Do NOT wait until tomorrow

Oh also 2nd baby. Good luck I hope it all goes well for you tomorrow.

Beeches24 · 03/12/2024 21:33

Yeah our trust won't check until 28 weeks for reduced movements so I'll just have to wait it out.

At 20 weeks they'd just listen with a Doppler but they are honestly so tiny at this stage, movements are very sporadic so I wouldn't worry.

The good news is you don't have to wait it out because you have a scan tomorrow. But the baby has likely just moved position, very common when they are so small. Hope it all goes smoothly for you tomorrow OP

Midwife here. Yes some Trusts won't put you on the CTG monitor until 26/28 weeks but you can still be checked over and have baby's heartbeat listened to tonight.

Chances are baby has just moved position and is kicking in a different position so you now can't feel it. Mine did that up until about 30 weeks and it really stressed me out! They're still quite small at this stage with lots of room to wriggle about. Good luck for tomorrow!
