Hi all

I am new to this thread. I'm 26 years old and have done a frozen transfer on 12th November which so far has worked and my blood HCG showed 232 at 4w. I'm now 5w5d and have had horrible sickness and back pain since before I even found out I was pregnant. My job is very demanding and I'm on my feet all day, plus we have a very high energy 9 month old lab who we walk 3/4x a day and spend a lot of time after work playing fetch, tug etc with so the back pain for me isn't surprising or worrying. I've woken up this morning to find very light brown/peach coloured discharge, I had this on Saturday night too, I will share a photo from then, however today it was definitely more noticeable and an almost jelly-like blob in appearance, although still a very small amount. I am on Utrogestan pessaries 3x a day and Evorel 100 2x patches twice weekly. I've spoken to the hospital and they have said there's no need to get me in for a scan before my scheduled one at 7w. They don't seem at all concerned and have told me that the pessaries are known to cause cervical irritation for some people so it could just be a case of that. Given I've been on the pessaries now for 4 weeks, would it be possible for the bleeding to start now if it was caused by irritation? I'd have thought it would have started before now if that was the case. I've had a missed miscarriage with my fresh transfer back in March so naturally I am terrified of that happening again. 9 days to wait for my 7w scan feels so long. Any advice and positive stories would be appreciated x

Sorry I forgot to add the photo from Saturday night - I don't know how to edit posts so couldn't go back and add it.

Hi I am also pregnant from a frozen transfer. I was on crinone gel up until 9 weeks which is not the same as the medication you are on but also causes cervical irritation . I had peach discharge the entire time I was on it. I also noticed a tiny bit of blood on the applicator once or twice after being on it for a month. I was really worried but the ivf told me it’s normal and from irritation of the cervix. Everything is ok so far.
hopefully it’s the same for you and it’s just irritation.

Hey, I'm so glad to hear I'm not the only one who's experienced this with the progesterone. I've heard of crinone whilst on my IVF journey but the vaginal capsule seems to be the only one my clinic prescribes. This is my second time on these now, but I never had anything like this the first time - I also wasn't on them for as long though. I've to be on these I think until I'm 12w if I remember correctly. Are you still using the crinone? How are things for you now? Hope the rest of your pregnancy is good and uneventful as the anxiety is so real! X

Hi OP. I haven't done IVF but I've had a lot of miscarriages. None of them looked like clear mucous.

It's normal to have weird aches and pains during pregnancy. Lots of things are going on in there. It's also normal to have unusual discharge, particularly if you're taking hormone treatment. I would only worry if you see actual blood, or if it itches or smells bad.

Your anxiety is completely understandable but try to work on the basis that you are pregnant until further notice.

Missmarymack2 · 03/12/2024 20:55

@nlab777 clinic said to me the irritation builds up the longer you are on the crinone. Presume it’s the same with the capsules. I’ve read here that a lot of clinics keep people on the medication until 12 weeks but my clinic stopped everything at 9 weeks. Almost 12 weeks now and haven’t had any peachy discharge since stopping the crinone. I know what you mean the anxiety is really tough. Hope the time flies by until your 7 week scan.

Try not to worry, although appreciate that is easier said than done. To try and cover your points of worry:

Your job and walking your dog or exercising in any usual capacity for you will not have any positive or negative effect on the outcome of this pregnancy.

As your clinic said, it is more common to experience spotting/light bleeding when you are on progesterone when pregnant. Pregnancy generally makes you more likely to bleed eg gums, nosebleeds etc and progesterone suppositories are known cervical irritants, as your clinic said.

Brown discharge/blood is old blood and not something anyone will be concerned about (nor do you need to be).

Your discharge looks perfectly normal, as above, brown tinged etc is normal. Aches pains and mild- moderate cramping is also all normal in early pregnancy.

Scanning you any earlier than 7 weeks will not show anything useful as there may or may not be a heartbeat, you can't really take any reassurance. By 7 weeks there should be, hence why they scan after then, although after 8 weeks is preferable as rate of miscarriage drops quite significantly if a heartbeat is seen at that point.

It's a really difficult time but try to take it day by day. Your scan will be here sooner than you expect. Wishing you well.

Just wanted to thank everyone for their replies on this. To update with a heavy heart, I have sadly started miscarrying at 645 this morning, woke up with horrible pain and a feeling of panic. I have been sat passing a lot of blood and some clots since then, now at 927am I think it's nearly over. Thank you to everyone who provided me with some reassurance x
