Hi this is my first time writing on here but I'm in need of some help!
I have worked for the NHS since March 2023 working as a bank HCA until I got a permanent contract in June 2024.
I've just found out I'm pregnant, should be due around Mid July 2025 but I am unsure what maternity pay I will qualify for? Looking at my bank contract it states clearly I'm not contractually considered an employee but looking at the new parents information on my trust intranet despite it saying clearly bank workers aren't considered for Occupational Mat Pay, on the list of exclusions for "Continous Service" bank working is not on there?
I am unsure if my bank working is considered a part of this as on my employment info it says I have now been working in the NHS 1.7 years.
I know this continous service u must be within 12 months from 11th week prior to childbirth and this brings me to 1st May 25 ( I began working early June 24).
I will be a first time mum and can't express how worried I am that I won't be able to afford the baby, me and my boyfriend are only young, looking for our first home and now we are stuck not knowing what we would be able to afford if I'm going to be stuck on SMP (especially with car outgoings each month of £350)
Please please please does anyone have any insight into this and would be able to offer me some advice ?
Thank you
:)
