Early scan 12 days out

Hi. I had an NHS early scan today (29/11) due to slight brown spotting in the past few days. The scan, based on size of baby, put me at 5W pregnant but by LMP (13/10) I should be 6+5W. Is it possible to be 12 days out and still have a positive experience? The sonography saw gestational sac, yolk sac, fetal pole and a good heartbeat. Thank you 🙏

I was 15 days out at my first scan and I'm now 23 weeks - I should have been 8+2 going by LMP but baby only measured 6+1 with a good heartbeat and everything as it should be.

Of course it's a worry but i wasn't actually that surprised as, although I wasn't physically tracking ovulation, i was having long and irregular cycles in the months prior.

Baby has caught up a bit since then and is now consistently 10 days behind what LMP would put me at. Had a scan today and she's doing great.

It's only really a concern if you are 100% certain of your dates because of ivf or you were tracking everything so know exactly when you conceived and ovulated etc. If not and you're just going by LMP, try not to worry. LMP is a very loose estimate based on you having an average 28 day cycle with ovulation on day 14 - it isn't accurate for a lot of women.

Also, it's very common for measurements to be out at this early stage as they're literally dealing with fractions of millimetres - if there was a HB then it's more likely you are over 6 weeks. They wait till the 12 week scan to give an official due date as that'll be much more accurate than any scan at this stage.
