Tuesday I sent in a sample which the doctor said she dipped and there was a hint of infection and sent it off! Spoke to midwife today and she said I should take antibiotics if there's an infection so went to the chemist and got the antibiotics took one when I got home I received a text to say no wee infection in the sample sent off so no need to have the antibiotics however I keep getting the urgency to wee ! Is this just a typical pregnancy symptom or would you take the antibiotics?

Urine cultures are known to not be accurate so I would take the negative result with a pinch of salt. This is even mentions on the NHS website. Dipsticks are also inaccurate but if you have had a positive dipstick and you have symptoms I personally would take the antibiotics as a uti in pregnancy can cause prem labour.

Thank you for your reply I'm going to take them to be on the safe side as I phoned the hospital and they said it had grown something but not enough for antibiotics however because I can't stop weeing they want me to have the antibiotics xx
