Can I have some sweep stories?
successes? Pros cons? I’m being offered a sweep and just never thought I’d consider it but I am in. A lot of pelvic pain and would like to not go over 40 weeks.
I wanted it all to be very natural but baby won’t budge 😅

I had two with DD1, one at 37 weeks, was uncomfortable, but able to breath through it, was 1cm, midwife was convinced she'd be here by the end of the weekend.. then had another on my due date was 2-3cm dilated, she could stretch to 4cm, waters bulging, again uncomfortable, but ok, she arrived 5 days later.

Had several with DD2 as was being induced at 39 weeks, again uncomfortable, this time didn't work at all and she was evicted by having my waters broken and put on the hormone drip.

She definitely wasn't ready to arrive.

I’ve had two- with my first the midwife did an amazing job. It was quite uncomfortable at the time but it worked and so it was well worth it. The second time, the midwife who did it was pregnant herself and made it very clear she didn’t want to do it, did a really half ass job and it didn’t work at all so a complete waste of time. So I think it matters on a couple factors - a) Is body nearly ready and b) does midwife do a good job.

tbh @Twinkletwinklelil I really don't understand WHY they still do this, 30 years on from a personally unsuccessful and very uncomfortable experience.

Personally? I'd refuse now.

But whatever you decide, I wish you the best.
