Oil based paint and pregnancy

Can I use oil based paint during pregnancy? I have some furniture I would like to paint for my child’s room , bit of a perfectionist so didn’t hubby to do it as he hates painting and I know it will be a rushed job 😫

It's not recommended by the NHS so that's the guidelines I'd go off and avoid it

I am 25 weeks pregnant and have avoided oil based paint after reading up on it (and it’s been a bit of a pain as we have loads of decorating to do!). But I felt like if there’s any risk at all, I’d rather not take it.

The main risk with oil based paints is the solvents that often accompany them , and the pigments within.
I’m a painter, I didn’t use oil paints in pregnancy. On occasion I used some earth pigmented paints in pure linseed without using solvent but tbh , rarely because if there’s any risk better avoid. If you must, well ventilated room, surgical gloves , and a mask.
You have to go to lengths to assure there’s no risk of ingestion , eg sanding or transferring pigment from hands to mouth .

IIRC it's VOCs that are the issue in paint. So if you can find paint without then fine. But Google for yourself because my memory is fuzzy on this.
