9 weeks Subchoronic hematoma same size as the sac causing bleeding

After bleeding I’ve been scanned and there is a large hematoma. They said nothing can do really just have to hope for the best, hope it resolves itself but to expect more bleeding. One of those things that could be fine but also may not be. I’m in tears and emotionally exhausted after a miscarriage not long ago, I’m 9 weeks now. Has anyone got a similar story with a positive outcome, my main concern is how large it is and just having to bleed and not panic.

And did anyone have cramping after the bleeding?

I had a hematoma come away at 14 weeks, it was never seen on a scan (despite having one two days before the bleed) so not sure on size but when it came out it was a lot of blood and a big clot so assuming quite a decent size. They said sometimes they get absorbed back into the body, other times they come out. Did they say whereabouts it was on the sac?
I dont want to scare you but do want to be honest so you're prepared if it comes out, the bleed is scary and sometimes comes out of no where, but for me it was literally one big gush and then like a period for a few days. For others it's a slow trickle it depends where it is in the body. I didn't have any cramping at all and that for me was reassuring. I read lots of blogs and other stories and some had some mild cramping others none.

If I ever was going to get pregnant again I would also bring a spare of pants and leggings in my bag if I was out and about and it caught me off guard. Also it might be best to limit or stop any heavy lifting or exercise. Can you go for another scan between now and your 12 week scan?

  • Just realised you had already had your bleed so sorry, hopefully if bleeding eases off if may just get reabsorbed! 💓

Mine was considered a large haematoma and I was put on complete bed rest from 7 weeks until my 20 week scan luckily at home. That baby is now 18 and at uni.

Do as little as possible. I think my bed rest was because of the amount of blood I lost in th first bleed. I also had huge clots the length of my middle finger. I genuinely thought I had miscarried due to that.

They didn't want me to dislodge the haematoma so no lifting my toddler, no walking, etc. Dh was brilliant and worked from home as I was a sahm.

I was put on bed rest at just 6 weeks after mine bled. They could still see it on the scan so advised I stayed on bed rest until 12 week scan where he was absorbed.

I had a haematoma bleed at 6 weeks, it was the same size as the sac. Progesterone until 14 weeks, no bed rest (two other kids!), and it resolved itself. I totally thought it was another miscarriage when I had that huge bleed.

Did you bleed again or at all? Mine wasn’t a huge bleed but it is a large hematoma, so hoping it reabsorbs. Just some minor brown blood now. Terrified of another loss. Drinking some pomegranate juice too, no idea if any point.
