Brown spotting and high hcg

Hi all! Just wondering if anyone has experienced similar? I’m 6weeks nearly 7 and experienced brown spotting yesterday. Epu checked my cervix and it’s closed. All bleeding has stopped. They have reassured me saying brown blood is old blood. They’ve taken my bloods and my hcg is 72,000 which is really high. I also have an early scan for Wednesday. Has anyone experienced similar?

yes I had brown discharge at the same time as you between 6 weeks and 7 weeks. I had a EPU scan at 7w1d and they assured me everything was fine. same as you were told that it is old blood. I've seen baby since then at 8w5d and 10w1d. Try not to worry!

@OneRedCrab oh that’s good news! Gives me reassurance so thank you! I’ve had 2 mc so when I see anything brown or red I go into panic mode. I wonder what causes the old blood.. I’ll try not to worry. Hopefully my scan will go well too! X

I know how worrying any kind of spotting can be! I am 6 weeks 6 days, and had some brown discharge when I wiped two days ago. I have had three previous mc so my mind went into instant panic and I thought it was all over. I booked a private scan and baby was fine with a strong heartbeat. Sonographer said could be implantation bleeding, she said small amounts of brown or light pink are usually not a cause for concern. But if it turns red or is heavier then this can be a sign to get checked. It’s so worrying and horrible being on edge so I’m totally with you! I’m not sure on the hcg, I have only had my levels checked once and at 5 weeks 1 day it was 14,829. Your levels sound fine to me and I believe are within normal range. I hope and pray everything is ok for you too. I keep thinking one day at a time x

@blw95 thank you for the reassurance! You can’t help but go into overdrive can you when you see any colour discharge after experiencing a mc. I’m so sorry that you also had to experience that! It sounds like we’re on a similar journey as I’m 6 weeks 4 days! Got my scan on Wednesday so hopefully all is well. I hope you have a healthy pregnancy too! X
