9wk early scan

I’m around 9wks pregnant and debating whether to go for an early scan or not… my nhs scan is on 11 Dec. I managed to wait it out with my first baby but for some reason time seems to be so slow with this one!

what’s peoples experiences of a 9week scan? Was it abdominal? Or should I keep waiting till the nhs one?

I’ve had no bleeds or cramping so nothing to outwardly suggest anything is wrong, had horrible nausea, tiredness and terrible mouth taste since around wk6. Feel ok today tho so maybe that’s what’s triggered my anxiety a little bit!!

My daughter has had a private scan monday just gone, it was abdominal, not as clear as an internal would of been, but still saw baby, heartbeat, yolk sac, umbilical cord, and baby movements, I will see if I can attach a scan pic x

I’d say definitely get a scan if you can. It can help ease anxiety so much. I had a scans 6 and 10 weeks, both abdominal and both you can see a heartbeat etc

Personally I couldn't wait till 12 weeks and had an early scan.
9 weeks is a good time to go for one actually and will provide some reassurance if there is a healthy heartbeat as your odds of miscarriage drop significantly if you see a HB after 8 weeks.

I think it’s nice to have an early internal scan and not too early at 9 weeks. Mine was quite clear at 8 weeks and it’s nice to see how much they’ve grown by 12

I had a scan at 9 weeks and could see a little baby kicking away. Really helped with the wait to the 12 week scan.

@Adamsapple89 sorry if this is a stupid question, but what is the circle next to the baby?Smile

I had a 6 week scan a few weeks ago and it was a small blob Grin

It’s the yolk sac so what’s feeding baby, it gets smaller as the weeks go on and then it’s all placenta

I had scans at 8 weeks with both of mine, they just look like a wee kidney bean at that stage but you see the heartbeat and made the wait from 4-12 weeks more bearable!

Just to update I didn’t go for a 9wk scan but did go this weekend and was dated at 10wks 2 days and all looked well ☺️

Was going to say I've avoided booking an early scan this time because I know there can be an early heartbeat and it can change overnight, so it feels a bit cruel to give myself false hope (contrary to my username, I'm a bit of a pessimist sometimes!).

But glad it was good news!🌈❤️
Good luck! 🍀
