Hi - just wondered if anyone has had anything similar. I had a private scan at 30 weeks and baby had an estimated weight of 1600g; all okay. I had an nhs growth scan (due to age) at 32 weeks and baby was 1690g; this is within the normal range on the nhs growth chart, but towards the lower end. My issue is the level of weight gain between the two scans is so low - I spoke to the midwife who said it could just be down to scan inaccuracy/ margin of error. Has anyone experienced this difference between private and nhs scans? Thanks.

I found that the later in my first pregnancy i got, the less accurate the growth scans tended to be - I think the bigger they are with less room, the harder it is to measure them accurately.
I was told around the 50th centile all the way through, everything 'average'. A few days before she was born the scan predicted she was just over 7lbs
She was born at 38 weeks weighing just 5lbs 10oz

I agree with the reply above. I had a scan at 36 weeks and they predicted low weight of 4lb, so I was induced at 37 weeks and she was 6.4lb. I've heard many times since that they can be quite inaccurate in estimating the weight.

Many thanks both for replying; I ended up having another scan today which gave a very different weight from the nhs scan a few days ago. Really good sonographer who said it’s better to look at the head and stomach size rather than just the weight, as the weight estimate can be quite far out - apparently the leg measurement can really throw out the weight estimate.

A friend of mine was predicted to have a 9lb baby and had a 6lb15 baby!
