@SBelfast Sorry you're having to go through all these issues, I don't think it's a surprise you're feeling stressed and pregnancy is a stressful time anyway so any added issues will always heighten this. Do not worry about no urge to nest, I'm not sure that it's even a proven thing- I have no urge to nest this time round it's just one of those things everything thinks they should be doing!

Remember its your choice what happens at birth if you think a section would be the best option then push for that, they may try and convince you otherwise and there are risks (possibly more at 37 weeks) but at the end of the day it's your choice and if the consultant doesn't agree to it then ask to have another consultant opinion.

I know section booking can be quite far in advance but they do emergency sections every day so they should have room to make exceptions if they need to.

SBelfast · 09/01/2025 09:49

Thanks @elb1504 appreciate that. I've been through all the risks, seems there's risks with whatever option you go for and in my trust apparently 20% vaginal births end in sections anyhow 😥
We've only seen one consultant and she was so supportive of section at 37 weeks said on balance outcome would be similar. Need to keep reminding myself of that since she's more senior than the doctors.
Good to think maybe I'm not broken by not nesting 😬😊

QuantumPanic · 09/01/2025 10:40

@SBelfast No urge to nest here. Health visitor is coming tomorrow, so I really need to do a tidy/hoover at some point today, but not feeling particularly motivated, despite the looming threat of being thought of as a slightly slovenly mother-to-be. 😅

20th Jan is still over a week away - what's happening between now and then? If they're happy to monitor you for a week, then why not longer? Agree with pp - if you want a section, hold firm. Sorry it's all become a bit stressful ☹️. It sounds like there's time to make a decision, though?

QuantumPanic · 09/01/2025 10:43

I've just discovered that it's recommended to give breastfed babies vitamin d from birth (formula is already supplemented, so no need for additional vit d if formula feeding). I suspect I'm probably the only one on this group who did not know this, but thought I'd post in case it's news to someone else!

SBelfast · 09/01/2025 10:58

@QuantumPanic haha that's good to know thanks for sharing :)
I think being so tired and achy also just makes it physically hard to want to do stuff round the house! Had really bad round ligament pain packing suitcase earlier in the week and got stick in a position and had to get my husband up to bring me Painkillers 😂
I'm in again on Monday for monitoring and infection tests but it's just with the midwives so I'll have to wait till my Wed check up to speak to a doctor which seems to be only way to get stuff booked. Can't make an apt before then. I'll just stick to my guns now, and what will be will be I guess 😊

Hhdxx · 09/01/2025 11:28

I've just had my growth scan. Babys belly is big and has really short legs 😂
I've got a date booked for a C-section which is the 14th February. I'll be 37+6.

UncharteredWaters · 09/01/2025 12:26

@SBelfast your ‘elective’ c section for prom will be a higher priority than most electives. It won’t be a massive issue to organise if
that helps settle things for you.
Realistically if it is down to you v eg a straightforward maternal request at almost term with no medical urgency to deliver, they can be bumped to another day and you take priority.

Would it help to ring the secretary and leave a message for next weeks clinic?

A Valentine’s Day baby!!

Padronpeppersplease · 09/01/2025 12:49

Hellooo, I’m currently 34 weeks and 3 days. At my last midwife appointment the baby was transverse, from what I can feel (kicks and movements to either side of my belly but nothing at the top/bottom) she is still in that position. I have another midwife appointment next week when I’ll be 35w2d, apparently if they confirm she is still transverse I’ll be sent for a scan and if that confirms it they’ll offer me a c section. Just wondering if anyone else has had a baby that’s still breech/transverse at 35 weeks and what the chances of them moving into position by themselves is at this late stage? Don’t actually mind if I need a c section, I’d just like to know if so!

My baby was breech all way from 20 weeks checked at scans at 24 weeks/33 weeks and i had another scan this week at 37 weeks and she'd moved to head down. I was very surprised as I hadn't felt any big movements etc... so definitely still time for baby to move! My consultant said generally anytime before 37 weeks they can still move.

CarrotySnack · 09/01/2025 14:21

@Padronpeppersplease - could be worth looking at the Spinning Babies website? They have a few suggestions for exercises to encourage babies to turn into the right position.

Thanks @UncharteredWaters. With the way my trust works I don't think that is a possibility but will see what they say. I'd be happy to wait longer if needed so as not to put them out and maybe they could monitor me three times a week instead of two etc for infection 🤔 but your right they may just reschedule to fit me in, id feel very guilty putting spmeone else out though!
Can't remember if I said before but if your on section list and have gestational diabetes apparently they'll try their best to keep you first on list that day since they don't want you fasting too long. So that's good to know bit of a silver lining. At one of my many apts was waiting and could hear some poor woman in for a planned complaining she was back for a second day waiting due to emergencies, and she obvs was getting it for medical reasons too, early with twins but I guess not as high risk as the others day prior 😬

UncharteredWaters · 09/01/2025 16:03

@SBelfast I think I know your trust. Just remember it’s not you that’s ‘nicking a space’ or putting someone out, it’s clinical need of the baby. That’s always the crunch.

GD does go earlier on the list if you need insulin/fasting. The order for c-section for elective is usually set the day before. The protocol for going for c-section with GD is probably online if you google your trust - it’s full of helpful info that might be reassuring/enlightening for what happens and when. Have they asked you to come in the night before if needing insulin?

Good luck x

TTCagain85 · 09/01/2025 16:10

Hope you are all doing well. Alot of you seem to be going early!

I saw this on a baby deal Facebook group today:

SBelfast · 09/01/2025 16:22

@UncharteredWaters no as not got that far as it's not even booked yet, so have no information on it. I'm not currently on insulin though just diet controlled for now. So hopefully can just spend night before at home so hard to sleep in hospital!

ThisLimeDeer · 09/01/2025 16:44

I’ve just had a call with the diabetes specialist midwife and I’m being prescribed metformin for GD, reason being that my blood sugar readings show high when I’m fasting in the morning and good after meals weirdly so diet control is not an issue, it’s out of my control apparently and at this point it needs intervention 😓.
On Monday they also finally prescribed me something for hypertension as I was told it’s just going to get worse now :(
I don’t know if anyone else feels this but I feel like it’s my fault that my body is creating these issues and putting my baby at risk 😭. I’ll take whatever medication they give me but I’m also scared that it will have an effect on him.

Also regarding c-section dates my trust is weird about it 🤣. They request it for a specific timeframe (a week) but they won’t tell me the exact date until a week before as it depends on who’s on the list and how they need to schedule it. It feels weird because my next consultant appointment is not until 3rd Feb but I’m supposed to be meeting my baby the week after!!!
im starting to feel a level of fear at this point a little bit.

Hopefully2ndtimemummy · 09/01/2025 19:28

@SBelfast hope you’re doing a bit better now. That sounds like such a stressful day x

Redapple21 · 09/01/2025 20:51

@SBelfast oh bless you, no wonder you feel very overwhelmed. As others have said, surely a c section can be booked at this stage as they manage to fit in emergencies. If you really don't want to be induced just stand your ground and ask for the c section. It's your body and your decision.

@Hhdxx I'm glad you have your section date and it's a bit sooner than you thought! Really pleased for you.

All of these babies are getting ever so closer now mamas xx

apple67cherry · 09/01/2025 21:05

Due 9th feb and got my induction date! 2nd feb 🥰

retrievermum · 09/01/2025 21:34

So jealous of everyone getting their dates!

Dying to know when my little bundle will be making their appearance (due on 1st!).

SBelfast · 09/01/2025 22:11

@ThisLimeDeer I feel that way too with the body issues! But we are being hard on ourselves :) sorry your having a rubbish time of it too. Thanks @Hopefully2ndtimemummy and @Redapple21 feeling better and going to stick to my guns and ask for section 😊
@apple67cherry we are due date twins lol. Before my issues were detected I was told it would probably be a section on the 3rd as they don't book electives in my trust over the weekend lol. 😀

herewegoagain123456 · 10/01/2025 06:52

Wow! All these dates I'm very jealous!

I'm not due till the 23rd of feb and have no reason to be induced or have a section early.
So just a waiting game!
Do wish I had a date to work towards!

No nesting here either! Not a lot of time tbh. Flat out from 6am-6pm everyday so the evening comes and I'm knackered 😂

4 weeks today and I'm on mat leave 😍

Lunalovegod · 10/01/2025 07:12

Due 9th Feb! But have a feeling he'll come sooner. I hope so tbh, I'm so uncomfortable I don't want another 4 weeks of this! I'm starting on the raspberry leaf tea and dates this week, hopefully that will have some kind of effect 🤞🏼

Piluka · 10/01/2025 08:15

I have to say feeling jealous of all of you with a specific date to meet your loved ones. I'll have to wait and see... Due date 9th of Feb and another week before mat leave. Feeling tired of working and it has been just this week since I came back from Christmas holiday. Hahaha man time doesn't fly even with a cape. 😢🤣

ThisLimeDeer · 10/01/2025 09:14

I’m also counting down the days to mat leave, not gonna lie! My last day is 31st Jan so I have three more weeks left 😔.
Sometimes I wish I requested for it to start earlier but then I remember that I’ll need leave later so I’m with the baby so trying to be patient but I agree with you all, it’s becoming more uncomfortable each week 😔.
i only left myself a little gap of a week between finishing work and c-section so we’ll see how it pans out 🤣.
Also can anyone relate to mood swings right now? I feel extremely hormonal, i wasn’t like this in the 2nd trimester but now just constantly up and down for no reason!
