Pregnant on desogestrel

Hi ladies I need some advice. I’m on desogestorel, have been since April. Since taking my periods have been regular like normal. (Every 23 days for 5 days) mine are like this even off the pill. Then last month I came on like normal for 5 days, off for two days then back on a heavey period for a week. I just assumed I was having a funny period because of missed a couple pills.

now going by my usual period I am 12 days late, going by my second period I’m 5 days late. Clear blue says not pregnant but I have sore nipples and cramps all in my hip on my left side. Has anyone had this and been pregnant? I’m baffled

thankyou

Desogestrel stopped my periods so it could just be the pill that's causing the symptoms. Did you take other precautions when you had missed pills?

And you are taking them every day without a break?

I’ve been on it for ages and still had periods tho? I didn’t take any precautions I assumed I’d be okay….

Even missing 1 pill puts you at risk of pregnancy with the mini pill. Why would you not take extra precautions when you missed them? You'd need to take the pill for 2 more days before being protected again.

The progesterone only pills are much more sensitive to missing a pill than others. The one I was on lost effectiveness is a pill was 12h late, there are others that are less effective if 4-6h late. It should be in the patient information leaflet that comes with the medication

I was on the progesterone only pill for 10 years and only bled if I stayed at my sister's house for the night! I went back on it after having my daughter. No bleeding until after a stopped breastfeeding but now bled every 14 days for a year then another year of 14 or 28 day "cycles" then they settled at 28days matching my cycle length when I wasn't on the pill. You can definitely get variability with when you bleed!! It could be that the missed pills have messed up your bleeding pattern.

When did you last have a missed pill? And when did you have sex around that time sperm can survive for 5 days so if you have sex in the days prior to missing a pill there is still a chance of pregnancy. If you are more than 2-2 5 weeks since the last missed pill/intercourse and still getting negative tests I think it would be unlikely you are pregnant.
