Can you see amnitoic fluid once it has dried?

Random question - can you still see amniotic fluid once it's dried on underwear? Earlier I had some discharge, with a wet patch surrounding it. It now dried, and can still see where the wet patch was so am suspecting it was discharge that had soaked into underwear rather than rested on top.

Can you still see amniotic fluid once dried on underwear if it's clear? For example, if you put water on clothes it would not leave a mark once dried.

Many thanks in advance!

If you’re not sure whether it’s amniotic fluid or discharge you should get checked out. Ime amniotic fluid is more like water and normally dries completely but sometimes it can be mixed with discharge and then may leave more of a “stain”.

Hi @AOMum14 you're going through the exact same situation I was yesterday. I had 2 days of discharge with watery discharge surrounding it.

I ended up going in to get an amnisure test at EOU/fetal assessment and it was just watery discharge, apparently its normal throughout pregnancy. I found the watery discharge dried with a slight yellow tinge on a pad/pantyliner (when held upto light)

How many weeks are you? Definitely go get checked for reassurance x

Hi, I had something similar and was advised to put a pad on and see if there was anymore throughout the day. It did seem wet so I phoned the hospital and they advised me to go in. When I arrived they tested the pad for amniotic fluid and it was so they admitted me. It's important to get an antibiotic drip straight away if your waters have started to leak. Apparently mine was a hind water leak where part of the waters have ruptured and why I didn't get a full on gush. Hope that helps!

Amniotic fluid is mostly salty water. You might have a bit of powdery residue once dry but not very much. Could it be the mucus plug? How close to popping are you?

Always best to get it checked out - contact your local maternity triage department and they can assess and confirm whether it’s discharge or amniotic fluid. Also, amniotic fluid has quite a distinctive smell.
