Industrial ear piercing

I got an industrial ear piercing over a year ago. I’m 4 months pregnant. It’s never fully healed properly. It started to get painful and red when lying down so I went to a chemist and they told me to ring GP as it looks a bit infected. I’m worrying will this be harmful to my baby?

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Mine never really fully healed for the 10 years I had it. I can’t imagine having one while having to sleep on alternating sides all night because of pregnancy. For your own comfort can you switch it for a couple of smaller gauge rings at least for now? I ended up just keeping the outer hole open for a ring. No idea if it’s any risk in terms of pregnancy though, sorry.

Can you put studs in the holes? Sending sympathy, I’m 3 weeks postpartum and my helix and flat piercings are playing merry hell because I had to take them out while I was in hospital and they’ve been sore ever since! You could also try cool boiled salt water to clean the piercing, treat it like it’s brand new
