6 weeks slow weak heartbeat and bleeding

Hi all, I am 6 weeks and 3 days pregnant, due July 14th. On Sunday evening I had a tiny amount of bleeding, on Monday morning I had more bleeding (not enough to fill a pad, enough to cover a handful of toilet paper). Both times it was bright red.

We went to the maternity hospital emergency room and I had an ultrasound that showed a gestational sac in my uterus. They then did an internal vaginal ultrasound and found the gestational sac and an embryo.

The doctor said the heartbeat was "weak and slow" and that combined with the bleeding we should be somewhat prepared for it to potentially be early signs of a pregnancy loss. It's been 3 days since I last had bleeding and there's no sign of a period starting. I still have swollen tender breasts and have nausea.

We have a scan booked in for Monday morning and I'm hoping there are some other people who've gone through similar situations - did the pregnancy work out?

not quite a similar situation because I wasn't told there was a slow and weak heartbeat, however when I first tested positive I had medium flow bright red bleeding for three days. I then had red bleeding again around 6 weeks and 8 weeks. I spotted brown on and off until 10 weeks and then nothing the rest of the pregnancy. I now have a thriving 12 month old.

Hang in there OP, I know it's horrible and at the moment you live day to day, or hour to hour praying everything will be ok. There is a possibility it will be ok, or it may not. I hope it all works out for you.

Morning everyone, hope you don't mind me jumping on the post. I have a similar problem myself. I should be 7 weeks round about now but I know dates can be sketchy until 12wk scan, anyway I had light pink spotting on Tues eve after a full day of shopping and running around called epu as I have a history of miscarriage and my last one in Sept this year resulted in a major hemorrhage and emergency surgery! They dismissed it and said if it gets heavier to call back. Fast forward to yesterday and I had a sudden gush of blood with a few 20p sized clots no pain or cramping and then it went back to very light red blood, only a streak on the pad over night. Epu have said the earliest they can scan me will be Tues coming. I did have a private scan on Tues night which put me at 6wks I'd refused an internal one as I just felt very uneasy with the sonographer, I still have a sickly feeling but putting that down to anxiety rather then a symtom lol. Boobs are noticeably there but not tender they never have been. I guess I'm just holding out a little hope although deep down I know what the scan will say it also happens to be my first midwife app that day too.

Thank you @Brownbottle and @Neurodiversitydoctor ♥️

@Fluffy38 I wouldn't jump to any conclusions at the moment. Obviously protect your heart by not getting your hopes up too much but a lot of what I've read says that bleeding can be pretty normal and I've heard from so many women who had many occasions of bleeding and went on to have a healthy pregnancy.

Is there no walk in emergency unit where you live? In Ireland we can just go into the emergency room and you see a doctor and scan you within 4 hours or so.

I had an external ultrasound and internal ultrasound on Monday which was 6 weeks. The external, they barely found a sac and internal they found sac and heartbeat.

Our A&E department is soooo long and its difficult to get seen as its not a medical emergency. Factor in having to do 2 school runs and having my 18yr old ASD son at home today makes it impossible to get to the hospital anyway. Iv had 9 miscarriages over 18yrs, 3 full term healthy children but the first 2 I had retained placenta and emergency surgery's my DD delivery was perfect no complications at all. If this goes the way I feel its going this will be the 3rd MC in a row in 7 months! The one in Sept was horrific we had gone to the 12 wk scan to be told fetus had stopped growing at around 6.5 weeks sent me home in view of going in a week later for repeat scan and surgery, later that night I had a major hemorrhage at home hubby rushed me to hospital where luckily paramedics were stood outside as I collapsed out the car after the emergency surgery and transfusion the consultant said I was very lucky 20mins later and I wouldnt of been here to tell the tale! Not only did I have to deal with that trauma but the loss of my baby too. Now this is going on and I just feel hopeless. Time isn't on my side either I'm almost 39. X
