Hi
just wondered if anyone knows if GPs will prescribe anything to help with nausea when I haven’t actually been sick?
it’s ruining my life I honestly can’t cope

@Frenchtoastie Ginger root capsules or ginger tea.

Yes, they should. Debilitating nausea can be just as bad as vomiting sometimes. There's definitely options for medication. Contact GP and get started on something asap. Hope you're feeling better soon.

Hiya,
yes they definitely can. Contact your g.p, just explain it is severely impacting your life and ability to eat etc. I am 6 and a half weeks and feeling sick 24/7 so I’m right with you! I find it’s a case of just trying to get through every day. Eat whatever you fancy, I know it’s hard but I find it’s worse with an empty stomach. Hope the doctors can prescribe you some medication that can help, it may be trial and error but persist as there are a few different medications you can try x

Omg please ignore the comments about ginger. It’s beyond ignorant. I have severe hyperemesis, still at 33 weeks. The nausea is the worst part. It’s like you’re constantly 5 seconds away from vomiting at all times, it’s horrific. From my experience and speaking with many other HG sufferers, the best meds for the nausea are called xonvea (pronounced with a Z). Ask your GP for this as it’s now first line medication for pregnancy sickness (they even have pregnant ladies on the pills), and it’s in the RCOG guidelines. Don’t let them fob you off, if you are having issues with them then ask for a different GP or contact your maternity triage and they can prescribe. Good luck

I also agree that Xonvea is brilliant. I’ve been on it for a few weeks now and it has helped so much! Before this I was constantly feeling sick and was physically sick randomly here and there and the difference after taking Xonvea is great. Hope you get sorted 💕
