Baby movements kind of like little cramps?

So I'm 22 weeks today, and over the last 4 days or so I've really started to notice what I THINK are baby movements.

I have an anterior placenta and baby is a little on the small side, so haven't really felt much up untill this point. At least nothing properly obvious anyway!

Saw my consultant at 21 weeks and she wasn't concerned by this, and explained it can take up till 28 weeks in some cases, and baby was absolutely fine at 20 scan.

Is it normal to suddenly start feeling stronger sensations? And did anyone else's kind of feel a bit like little cramps/spasms in one area of their stomach?

I've read a lot about baby movements and a lot of women say things like fluttering, or bubbles popping which kind of fits but I would associate it more with a kind of cramping sensation?

Not painful at all, just a very weird sensation, and have felt them all over my abdomen from around the top of belly button downwards. Which is also what makes me think it could be baby!

Just looking for some comparison I suppose, especially as I've noticed it so much more obviously over the last four days or so!

TIA 🥰

It could be - I had an anterior placenta with my first and started feeling movements around 22/23 weeks...the movements are definitely more muffled when the placenta is from the front, especially when they're on the smaller side.

The movements should start to get a little stronger over the next few weeks and you'll know it's definitely baby

Spasms sounds like how I would describe some of the early baby movements I felt. Or like a muscle twitch. Sounds like it could well be it!
